I was servicing my girlfriends Subaru, I had bought a NAPA Gold air filter because they are always good quality and I never have had any problems with them. I messed with that filter for a good hour and finally tore it trying to get it in. Went and bought a Fram and it fit perfectly, popped right in in 1 minute and sealed perfectly. I didn't post this to knock NAPA or Wix, they've always been great, but Fram made me very hapy today.

I had a heck of a time trying to get a K&N filter to fit in my old Altima, switched it to a regular Fram and it went in perfectly without any trouble at all. The K&N's gasket was a little bit too big for the housing and it wouldn't close properly. I had some trouble with K&N in my Integra too, it was a complete PITA to get into the intake tube where the Napa Gold I have now fit perfectly fine. Weird how that works eh?
I do know, and have heard form lots of people, and have read, NAPA tends to have aprts lsited for your vehicle, that don't always fit. I like NAPA and all, in terms of aftermarket, but sometimes, their parts just don't fit.
I always had this problem, with their PCV valves. They sell Echlin, and they don't even look remotley the smae valve as the dealer ones. Closest valve aftermarket i foundofr my 95 neon, was from Advance auto, Purolator brand, which itself was a little off, the metal ball in it, is bigger than Chryslers metal ball. But, at least its desgined and shaped how its supposed to be

Actually I had some problems with a napa filter as well or so I thought.
I actually took the filter back out and noticed on one corner that it was a sharp corner and not rounded like the other three corners.Something barely noticeable. Flipped it over and it fit perfectly.
Are you sure this was not the case with the filter you bought?

WIX does have an error for certain Subie models....

never hada problem with napa gold/wix filters. I use them for my oil, cabin and air
