Bought a napa gold, correct number on box correct number on filter. IT WOULD NOT SEAL. Upon taking a closer look at the filter it would never seal on a small chevy 350. It was the wrong filter. I looked at the old filter( a fram) it was a different design. I notice this before i put it in but figured it was just a design change. I went to another part store and got a wix. It was just like the fram. I ran my beloved 350 with a radicle solid cam for about 20 seconds with maybe 2 or 3 psi , i hope i do not need to replace it. Going to napa tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem?

And the Fram and Wix numbers ??? Please tell us the WHOLE story.
Also, the application would be good to know; what brand and model of vehicle, engine, etc? Any moderations done to the engine?

Some filters have recessed baseplates; some don't. Depends on the application. My guess is you got the wrong filter by application.

fram was ph5 wix is 51069.1977 pontiac ventura, chevy shortbock crate motor with after market tricflow heads solid lifter crane cam holly 780 . has about 300 runs at 1/4 mile drag strip plus driven regularly on street. The oil pressure needle started moving slightly so I waited a few seconds for real pressure but it never came up shut motor down lots of oil on ground filter would not seal

So the NG 1069 didn't fit properly, but the Wix 51069 did? Certainly odd; most likely a production mistake. Those should be interchangeable.

The Wix 51069 xrefs to a Fram PH30, and the PH30 crosses to a Wix 51069.
But the PH5 xrefs to a Wix 51060. This doesn't make sense; doesn't align with your statement.

They all appear to have the same base plate design (as best I can see from the photos on the websites). They all have the typical GM thread (13/16").

When you say it didn't seal, are you speaking externally (oil all over the ground), or internally (bypassing the filter somehow)?

PH5 and PH30 both fit small block chevy

napa refunded money for filter I wish they could refund money for the mileage they reduced on my engine guess i am duing a tare down this month

A Wix has the same design as a Fram? I may be forgetting something. I am pretty sure I hear people complaining Wix is made by Purolator. Fram now has Champ. The Napa went to China or something, silicone base gasket. Is the bypass valve deleted in the block?

top photo ph5 worked fine bottom photo napa gold would not seat or seal , 1069 from napa, not the same. wix 51069 was the same as fram bought at orielys works fine. bypass valve is good on block moves freely. Napa took the return so quickly it was like they knew some of the filters and boxes were mislabeled. I always went with a ph30 or ph5. same filter just diferent lenth, I just wondered if anybody else got mislabeled filters
