Napa Ceramic Brake Pads

They are the only ceramic brake pads available for a 92 Toyota Previa, 4-wheel DISC w/ABS, RWD.

$62 for the front, $58 for the back. Has anyone used these Ceramic pads from Napa?

Akebono doesn't make one for this car, and neither does Raybestos.

I've used Napa ceramic pads on my '99 GMC Sonoma--quiet, relatively dust-free. I didn't care for the stopping power, though. They seemed to require a lot more force to get the kind of brake torque I get from Raybestos semi-metallic pads. I live in the Bay Area too, and there were a few times when traffic on I-280 would come to a standstill around Hwy 85 during rush hour. Most drivers don't expect this, and you get some sudden braking. I was nervous a few too many times with those pads, so I haven't bought them since.

I checked autoparts warehouse and they stock ceramic akebono pads for this car, but I bet the napa are just as good.

And I somewhat agree with nel, ceramic pads should only be used on smaller cars like my corolla or your saturn. They are better noise/dust wise, and last longer (my ceramics currently have 52k miles on them and they're looking good). But the downfall is stopping distance, and your previa/his sonoma have a lot more mass to stop than a smaller car.

But if they feel good then don't give it a second thought.

Thanks. Akebono does make a pad for the Toyota PREVIA, but only for models without ABS. My dad's van has ABS, and Akebono's tech support confirmed that they have no pad available.

I used Napa ceramics on my Ranger a few years ago to replace the oem. I had the rotors turned at the same time. The rotors "warped" again in only about 1 years time. I am currently using Napa semi-metalics, but I have no plans to use the ceramic pads again.

Note: That was with oem rotors. From my (and others) experiance, Ford oem rotors are POS.

oops, you're right. I was using autopartswarehouse, looked under toyota/92/previa/2wd/WITH rear disc and ABS. But they had WITHOUT ABS pads listed under that category.

Good thing I wasnt ordering them or else i'd have $100 in pads I couldn't use.

I use the Napa Ceramix brand on both my Jeeps and they seem to work good.

I have Napa ceramics on my Cherokee. They dust more than I expected, but braking performance is fine.

As cheap as new rotors are, I sprang for some new ones on the Camaro when they were giving me trouble. They worked wonders with the Bendix ceramics I have on them.

I got my rotors and pads at Advance and haven't ever had a bit of trouble.

I installed a set of Akebono front ceramic pads on my '07 Camry XLE about 1200 miles ago at 5500 miles.
Feel no difference from stock.Less dust which was my goal.
I bought from Tire Rack.
$67 delivered.
BTW
Akebono makes brake pads for most of the Japanese manufacturers and ceramic for some GM models.
Also have heard that NAPA ceramics are Raybestos Quiet Stops.

Put them on my 2000 Windstar and am not impressed. Quiet, but way more dust than expected.

NAPA ceramics on my RSX. OEM pads are ceramic so there's no difference is performance. Price was right, can't complain.

Wow that's wierd. I've had a set of Napa Ceramix and Napa Chinese rotors on my 2001 windstar for about a year & 12Kmi now. Zero dust, no warpage and same stopping power as always.

Those ceramics probably require heat to work well. They may require more force to brake when cold/wet. Sometimes, it takes a LOT of heat to get them in their zone.
I often state my preference for Hawk HPS pads.

My daughter has a '06 Lexus IS 250 and the brake dust problem is ridiculous.
Front alloys blacken in a few days.
Can't seem to find front ceramic pads.
Akebono's at Tire Rack and some other places online only show rear pads.

Could be but I had ceramics on an Expedition and now on my Camry and don't feel any difference in braking.
Actually the Camry brake pedal has less travel down to slow or stop....I think.
Feels like it anyway.
