One of the local AM stations runs advertising from them, from a woman who talks faster than the speed of sound. Annoyed, I checked it out. Just what I thought: JUNK.

It'll flag all sorts of things, scare you with it's warnings, then want $30 or $40 to make them "magically" disappear.

I called the radio station and left a msg with the sales manager, then talked to his assistant, who actually answered the phone.

Evidently, no one bothered to check out things like this before going on the air. They just wanted the $$$$.

Here's one particularly interesting article on these frauds: http://www.howtogeek.com/162683/pc-cleaning-apps-are-a-scam-heres-why-and-how-to-speed-up-your-pc/

To those of you who don't understand confusers: Don't ever fall for these "cleaners" that are advertised. It's a scam, seeking suckers. Don't be a sucker.

With Wxp, Vista, 7, 8 & 10, you don't need to buy anything. Press the windows key, type disk cleanup in the search bar, select it above and touch ENTER. It'll search your HD for junk/temp/unnecessary files, then show you what it found, where they are, allow you to view them, all before you click OK.

Go ahead...click OK.

I just recovered 2.5GB of space on my new W7 confuser I've been tweaking.

Merry Christmas!!

Just run Ubuntu.

Literally 99% of people surf the Internet and check email primarily with their computer, Windows is a poor choice for these tasks.

True. I use CC as well. However, MS's DiskCleanUp will do fine, is already built in, and teaches the target audience with no conputer skills & knowledge, that they don't need anything else.

As for registry "errors", I've never had one in my 17yrs of using Windows. Registry "cleaning" is another scam for the public-at-large.

Exactly, I do almost everything from surfing, word processing, watching movies (including Netflix), listening to music through Chrome on Linux Mint as my main computer. There really isn't anything else I need. Both my kids do all their school work (the school uses Google Drive) on Chrome installed over Linux Mint.

My wife however insists on using Windows (even though her work provides her with a fully loaded Mac Probook which would be a step up) so CCleaner I have her use.

Does Citrix work on Ununtu?

Yo Donald, don't hijack my thread! Read my original post. Has nothing to do with Citrix, does it? Nor Ubuntu, nor Linux.

Start your own thread!
