^ I'd think an accurate count of non-tears would be problematic. Personally I've only cut open 1 P1 since these tear threads started cropping up, PL10111 and had no issues.

I'm sure there are people cutting, finding nothing, and not posting.

True, and we are starting to see strong patterns of which filters are problematic, certain part numbers seem to be very high.

Ironically - the only filter problem I've ever had was NAPA Gold branded Wix.

Noooo... not another one!

I hate to say it but my puro filter days are over until there are concrete assurances and explanation from Purolator.

I've been using puro classic the past 3 years, will never buy one again..even if they fix the problem.

Orange can FTW

Out of curiosity, what kind of problem did you have.

Two tears at each end. I don't think I'll be buying anymore Puro filters. Her Rodeo got a Fram Tough Guard this time.

Did you ever think of going Motor craft?
Im pretty sure for that size its FL810

Thats the same size that fits my Honda Accord.

Or even if Im wrong.. Look up motor craft... Motorcraft is a great filter for the $.

If I was going to go with FRAM might as well go with ULTRA... very resonably priced.

but Still look at motorcraft..... Motrocrafts are well respected here at this forum.

Gasket was too thin. Couldn't tighten enough to keep from leaking.

Was that for a Honda by chance? Wix changed the model number and face plate for one of those for a Honda minor change, but some guys using the older usual Honda filter number had problems (it was no longer the correct filter).

No - Nissan VQ35.

Wix actually did a similar change with Nissan/Infiniti. The originally specification was for the 51365. This was changed to the 51358, for some reason. I asked Wix, but their answer was less than useless.

Actually Motorcraft is normally my filter of choice if they make one for my application. I use the FL400S on my Jeep Wrangler.

I'll check the application for my kid's Rodeo.

You're reply came out a big garbled.

Are those alternative part #'s? The Fram I tried was the 3593a and the Wix was 51334

Which Purolators (part #) seem to be most problematic?

Does anybody have an idea approximately when Purolators started this tearing (manufactur date) ... I have some that are a few years old and wonder if they are OK?
