My trucks still ticking!

GM V6's in my experience sometimes make a little valve train noise.

They will tick forever, but it can be annoying. I recommend turning the radio up.

We adjust the valves on some older models, but only ONCE! At rebuild. After that you should expect them to run forever unless you have a radical cam or Overkill style valve springs!

The newer 4.8/5.3/6.0/6.2's have a "bolt it all down and forget it" roller rocker setup that never requires any service, and the rockers seem to last forever...

Yep. Can't get rid of the tick on the 3.5 in the Aura. It's only noticeable with the hood up though, so I don't worry about it.

I guess he just was following the OEMs cure for lifter ticker noise when nothing else works.
