Yeah +1 on some type of vegetable oil. That stuff polymerizes and turns into label glue really quickly, especially with the heat, aeration and acidity of the crankcase environment. It'd be very hard to tell it was veggie oil vs motor oil pouring it in, unless you took a sniff (and knew what odour to sense) or were really innately familiar with the colouring of engine oil.

Swapping and returning engine oil is pretty freakin desperate if you ask me. How bad must life be to have to do that??

Anyone remember this stuff? This is what it reminds me of. One of my favorite toys as a kid

Here is my vote:

Poster is diligent and quite helpful. I do not suspect the poster so much.

Mobil 1 did not likely produce what was pored out of the bottle. There would likely be likely widespread problem.

** Some meth head found a gold mine.

Is collecting used 5qt oil containers from the back of advanced auto parts, etc. filling them with cooking oil from Dollar general (so nobody can visually ever claim b.s. or suspect when using).

Then said meth head is applying a new ring of foil back on top with nice HVAC aluminum tape. Tough metal seal easily recreated and you damage the heck out of them when pull them off anyway. Hard to tell difference after pulling off and the re-created piece you stabbed poked pulled goes away in the trash.

Now is returning to umpteen walmarts/targets etc for store credit and pocketing approx $25 a whack.

Either this or have you been through a recent divorce process.

Glad I could solve this........

p.s. in earnest sorry for your situation in any event.

He's now posted inflammatory headlined videos on youtube and Reddit, even after, and without giving full disclosure that the used oil analysis shows this is not Mobil 1. Yet he updates his "quest" for a solvent various times. I can no longer give any benefit of doubt.

Sometimes people use veiled attempts for "help" when the real reason they've come on here is to find anyone, just one bitoger, to justify their point of view.

My daughter makes that when she's bored.

man this is just unreal to see garbage like that happen.

I use oil in jugs from time to time.

but makes me glad i buy most of my oil in 12 quart boxes, less prone to be tampered with

I also agree. As I and others have said before the OP's bought some unknown returned to Walmart substance. He thought it was genuine Mobil 1 and mistakenly poured it into his sump. UOA confirms it was not motor oil. His problem is with Walmart, and unfortunately himself for not catching the faux "oil" before adding it to his engine. I feel bad for the guy, but I think the smart thing to do now is lay off of XOM, they might just see this nonsense and sue him.

Yep, especially based on the used oil analysis results and the whole messed up path he's taken to try and get to the bottom of this fiasco. As I've said a few times, he should have been talking directly to Mobil a long time ago instead of doing "experiments" and trying to clean up the engine for weeks on end.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5 Qt has a foil seal and the tamper proof plastic cap; quarts just have the tamper proof cap. The ones I buy.

Well maybe some Deplorable II folks are behind this whole conspiracy ~ I mean up until a few days ago we only knew about Deplorable I’s walking amongst us …

As I said before, I did call XOM from the beginning. They said most likely it was water/coolant contamination.(blown head gasket would be automatically my fault, and nothing short of major engine work) So that when I decided to send it in for used oil analysis. My experiments is external to the engine at this point. It was a waiting game for used oil analysis and the mechanic, so testing what would dissolve the sludge does not affect anything.

Posting for mechanic advice on reddit as there were several post of people having simile problems there. I did not blast XOM at all there. Just stated what I used.

Correct. I see both of those on mine. If it was previously open I would not use the oil.

I am sorry you still feel this way about me. The internet sucks because there are lots of evil people out there. I can not prove anything past this computer screen and that sucks. I understand you would be skeptical of the craziest oil event ever seen (at least the craziest I have seen) I wanted to share here because I wanted to see if anyone had this experience and what I can do about it. I never imagined someone could have tampered with the bottle until you guys mentioned it.

I think some of you are offended because of XOM brand loyalty. (heck I do too, used M1 for a long time now.) and it sounds like you would rather me not post or update.

OP is not saying something since he has no want/desire to contact walmart. Walmart is his only chance, but yet he does not contact them. Yea, makes sense.............not.

I have no issue with you posting updates. Continuing to maintain that its Mobil 1 is what I have issues with.

It isn’t M1. XOM did not put that in the jug/bottle.
