My personal MMO shock treatment

So after reading the ATF+MMO shocker thread, i decided to do my own. 4oz of MMO in the oil, 12oz MMO in the fuel...key part, is I had only about 2 gallons left in the tank. I drove it to the bank to put in my check and back. Six miles each way. Car drove fine, so that checks out the high dose driveability claim. With the engine running hot in driveway, I gave the car a distilled water tune up via "misty mate" sprayer into the pcv line. I decided that the higher concentration of MMO going thru the fuel injectors would be my UCL, as I've been warned that straight water will wash the insides too much perhaps adding wear. I then changed the oil. Notable amount of black junk on the ground in puddle under the muffler. Remember the car was hot from a freeway run, this wouldn't be the dripping condensation from a newly started car in a cold climate. We shall see if I ping in warm weather on 87 like I have been. I filled the fuel tank today, so I can record the mileage.

If liquid gunk escaped the tailpipe, I wonder what got caught up in the catalytic converter...

To anyone else trying this, remember that you need to have the car revved fairly high to do this to prevent hydrolock. That's where the amount of water in the combustion chamber is greater than the amount of space available. Also, certain engines may collect water in a low spot of the intake runner and when you suddenly rev it up, the engine takes a bigger gulp of water than it can handle. One example would be the Cadillac Escalade engine.
I wouldn't worry about the water washing down the cylinder walls for this short shot of water.

If you use water to clean the engine, deliver it in a mist form if possible so that you aren't drowning it. There are portable garden sprayers that can do this.

I did this on a $800 ford aspire i bought last year in April when the gas price was jumping 3 cents a day, stay the same on the weekend, then jump 11 cents to catch up. Over the summer i made 1/4 of the car purchase back in fuel savings

On this mazda engine the pcv line is on the passenger side, and so is the throttle. what i did was shove the misty mate line into the pcv line so it touched the metal bung part. then I started the car. the engine vacuum holds the mister line tight so i can use my free hands to modulate the throttle and the amount of mist going in. No octopus needed it may have not cleaned all the cylinders the same but at least one puked out some gunk. As far as cat health, who knows. I do drive 25 miles home freeway and hope its all blown out by now.

Often times it is just water, plus the soot that always clings to the insides of the exhaust pipes.

4oz in the oil???? The bottle calls for one quart in the crank. I would not call 4oz in the crank a "shock" treatment.


But points for bravery with that water!!!

I just put 32 oz of MMO in my gas tank last night. So far so good. It seems to be slightly smoother at idle and slightly more responsive. If that is even possible, but thats what I feel is happening.

I know, but for a shook treatment, I would have put a quart in the oil. If were tryin to clean lets clean!!!

UPDATE...wow lotsa traffic on this board!

The shock treatment was for the fuel tank, not the crankcase. I put in auto-rx, with Supertech Conventional. MMO seems so thin, and i know i went over on my miles this OCI. BTW at wal-mart they make sure you are 18 when they ring it up. I guess kids with no access to their parents' liquor have tried to find the "mystery" in this stuff. Future of America everyone!

My update on fuel mileage wasnt very substantial
254 miles, 6.8g first full tank
115 miles, 3.0g
261 miles, 7.0g

I average high 30's, delivering pizzas and winding her out 70+mph highway. when i "try" i can bring the mpg's over 40 pretty easliy. My goal is 40 driving like a jerk.
