Yesterday I was talking to my boss. I turned around to walk away and my knee popped. It was real loud too. My boss heard it over his hissing torch.

Today my knee and leg are sore. I limp till it gets moving then I'm ok but it's still tender. It seems to move more freely than it did before.

I get stiff legs, back and arms if I don't keep moving.

Thoughts?

Start with the harmless stuff first. Drink lots of fluids, green tea and pop some vitamin C. Rehydrate those joints.

If that doesn't work see a quack of your persuasion.

Walk it off.
And I speak as a charter member of the International Walk It Off Association.

lol, when I ran cross country in highschool our captain was a big fan of "walking it off". We joked one day that one of us was gonna get stabbed in the jugular with a sharp twig and he'd tell us to "walk it off and drink some water"

I laid down for a while then I couldn't move

Hobbled my way into the bathroom for some Asprin and did some attempted stretches which helped.

Now I'm back at the puter so it'l stiffen up again.

Getting old sux.

It bothers some more than others. I just got done a battery of tests. Stress, pulmonary, echo cardiogram, ultrasound on my leg veins (I had a blood clot ONCE), etc..etc. My Pulmonary doctor, who used to be my general physician before he got too swamped with pulmonary patients, looked over all the tests and said "You're not in bad shape" ...I said "WHAT!!! If this is what 50 feels like in good health ..MY GOSH what would it be like with "issues"

???"

btw- I have not meniscus on my left knee ..but before I injured it ..I would have some inflamation give me issues. It would seem that the universe would wait until there was some tendon issues for me to bump it against ..a desk ..table whatever would be at the right level to bring me (almost) to my knees (which would hurt even more). Occasionally my knee would appear to lock (pain with movement) which was a tare in the meniscus folding over ..then returning to the flat position (ouch!).

So, what's all this mean to you? Nothing ..except that it can be worse.

Oh ..get them to fix it and not just remove stuff (if you have cause for someone to tinker with it). Climbing stairs without a meniscus isn't painful (necessarily) ..but the high friction joint surely takes more effort then that nice natural teflon washer keeping stuff apart.

As an engineer, I can say that the design department who invented the knee were certianly in late friday morning after a VERY big Thursday night on the turps.

I tore my anterior cruciate ligament years ago, and every now and then I do some turn, the joint becomes unstable and wham.

I tore my meniscus (found out later) when I stood up one day (Dec 2005). It was a fairly severe pain for a few days. It went away eventually. Several weeks later (Jan 2006), the same thing happened. My arthroscopic knee surgery was in March of 2006. IMHO, get it looked at. I waited too long and probably did additional damage.

Keep taking anti-inflammatory OTC drugs (I prefer ibuprofen, naproxen sodium or ketoprofin to aspirin) regularly per bottle instructions.

Turned just right(or just wrong) and got that meniscus pain; bad.
Went away in a few days(Aleve helped).
Now, three years later, I'm staring at a knee replacement; though I'm trying to stave off for a few months.(Celebrex plus glucosamine and chondroitin.)

Wouldn't hurt to get it looked at by a orthopedist.

Like Shannow, I tore the ACL on my left knee some years ago. My knee gave the horrible pop sound when it first happened. I thought I broke my leg it hurt so bad. Knee doctor originally thought it was a torn meniscus, but only during orthoscopic surgery did they discover it was an ACL issue. They cleaned out scar tissue and left it as is. I do have some stability problems with it, but not too bad. Doc said this will make me more prone to arthritis when I'm older. Just sux as it happened when I was 29 [36 now]. Never was a star athlete anyway!

whaaaa...

torn the ACL in both my knees at different times. Once at age 14 then the other at age 19. Both were reconstructed. I have done it again on my left knee (yes...the third time), but just can't bring myself to get the surgery again because I'm done playing sports, and if you train right you can stabilize the knee with your surrounding muscle.

Suggestions for you...

go see a Dr. and check for torn ligaments...it can be as easy as turning around to pop one.

ice is your friend...especially early on if swelling

spend some time on a stationary bike - slow and controlled - this motion helps your knee produce the natural lubricant your joint needs

stretch it gently.

ease off the over the counter drugs if you can...they are bad on your liver and slow muscle growth

I take Cissus (natural herb) for my knees, and it works awesome!

I'm feelin better now. Last week I went to my Chirocracker dude and he basically said that I'm getting old. The worst of the pain lasted about 3 days.

Now I'm back to normal.............Only My back hurts today.

I'm taking Chondroitin and Glucosamine with Lyprinol (New Zealand Green Liped Mussel Oil Perna canalicus. After being nearly crippled I can get around well. Had two ops on right knee but it's the left that's a killer. Tablets and oil removed 90% off the pain.

HMMM I have tried the green tea. I drink about 1 gallon and half of water a day. So I won't drink more. I think that I am getting enough C. Seen uping my intake of green tea my knee still pop. But the pain is a lot less.

And my family doctor said that my knee pain was tendonitis. I blindly accepted his explaination, until it happened the second time. I tried to get them to refer me to an orthopaedic doctor. I finally contacted the ortho myself and was seen within a week. My MRI was done with 2 weeks. I'm glad the pain is better BUT if it happens again, insist on a visit with an orthopaedic doctor, please.

I'm pretty sore after moving all this snow...
so i'm making sure i'm getting all the Vitamin C i need...with a few ounces of Bacardi CoCo rum added.
