TiGeo has a new knee

SIT REP. 4 weeks tomorrow. Coming along. Got just over 100 deg bend last week at PT. Can get around the house no cane. Swelling/bruising continues to decrease. Muscle soreness/pain still an issue in my quad/hips. Sleeping comfortably still an issue but managing reasonable albeit chopped up sleep hours. Signed up for an autocross in early August 🤣

6.5 weeks. 120 deg bend (maybe a touch more)....need more....

Overall getting back to normal. Obviously some soreness/pain/discomfort at times. Knee joint itself is great...no more issues. Just the recovery from the surgery. "75% @ 3 mos" they tell you seems reasonable at the halfway to that point. I recently took a new job with an aggregate mining company and had training the last 2 weeks including site visits and was able to get around the quarries reasonably well...including climbing into this rigid frame haul truck without much fuss! Also road my mountainbike up/down the street this week...some pain at full bend/top-of-pedal stroke but it continue to get better.

I was sort of hoping you would just go away. But since you aren't, best of luck to you and your family .
🙏 🤲

Heel up buddy. My meniscus was falling out and I would have to push it back.
Geez. My knee is in good condition. nothing like that, luckily.
The injury was from falling during a blizzard. Didn’t see the 2ft drop, tried to stay on skis (rookie mistake), and since I didn’t have enough energy, the ski didn’t fall off. Twisted knee, ACL gave up, knee buckled backwards.
They couldn’t figure out the problem besides ACL needing healing. The doctor thought immediately that the meniscus was torn, but the MRI did not show anything.
I had always had some itch there. Then it became hard to run (skiing was fine, biking). Then this year, a new baby comes, we go for a walk a week later, and I make a step forward, and out of nowhere, pain starts. Another MRI, and now it showed a tear. I was still skiing and biking, but I had to do it, preferably before ski season.

Prayers sent that you have safe and great recovery sir 😍😍🙏🏻

My PT gave me 5 core excersises to keep things simple so I'll start those today. I really liked the 2x week PT sessions...1 hour...kept me accountable. We have a gym at work so that will be helpful for leg weight training.

A woman in an F150 turned in front of me on my motorcycle in 2006. My right knee took a bad knock; thrashed cartridge, and torn quadriceps tendon. Had surgery to fix the tendon, and leg was locked in the straight position, so the tendon could heal. PT was brutal, trying to get the knee to bend again. I'm a bicyclist, and the world opened up after I was able to make the pedal stroke over the top. After that, I was on the bike and the knee loosened up the rest of the way. Biking is great that way.

Good luck with the rest of your recovery @TiGeo

My wife had knee replacement in February . It's been a tough recovery . In June she was in a bad car accident and fractured her ankle on the other leg . She also had a concussion and this hampered her therapy . It's been real interesting .

Total knee replacement complete today. In and out in 4 hours. My guy does 700+ knee/hips a year here in central VA. I had a horrible injury 25 years ago...tibial plateu fracture with associated ACL/PCL/meniscus damage. Took mos. to recover but did get back to full activity...racing mountainbikes, snowboarding, name it. Lots of field work as a geologist. Flash forward to 2023...

About 2 years ago the arthritis was getting bad with lots of general pain/discomfort. My cartilage was actually coming out on the side...when it came out low I couldn't straighten my leg...came out high couldn't bend it. Had to push it back in. Awful and limited my field work and general mood. Could no longer ride mt bikes or walk my dog. Driving no issue. Saw my guy...MRI...no fix...replace it was recommendation. Diclofenac (Voltarin) was amazing and helped with pain/discomfort but not the acute mechanical joint issue.

Back home. Can walk with a walker..modern medicine is amazing 💪🙏🤘 Shooting to do an autocross in August. Peace.
