MY Ford Service department is CLUELESS

Okay, there must be other factors at work. That means people are driving less because they're out of work or can't spend money, and that people simply aren't performing certain needed repairs. As I understand it the Service Dept generally brings in more money to the dealership than vehicle sales.

In the past, when there was a slowdown in sales, Ford Parts and Service (where my girlfriend works) seaw a big increase in business. Her job was pretty much recession-proof.

But in this case, the guy's not an ***hole because he can't do his job, he's an ***hole because he's trying to rip people off!

Just a simple word of advice, don't go into the dealer acting like a know it all and spouting off service bulletins you found on the internet. As a dealer employee, we always take "those people" with a grain of salt.

Yeah, we should all come in and kiss your butt and know our place as lowly know nothing customers.... after all you are allowing us to pay you our hard earned money...sure dude.

Just tonight I went to pick up my Silverado from the dealer for a oil leak problem. They called this afternoon to say they could not find the leak and if fact, it was AS DRY AS A BONE. I get my keys from the cashier and find my truck. I crawl under and guess what, there is a drop of oil where the engine and bell housing meet. I drive it back into the service area and without saying a word, I crawl under and wipe the oil with my hand, get up, and smear it on the counter in front of the service manager. He looks at me and says "I don`t know what to say". I get in my truck and go. Now I have to find another dealer.

Awesome. One of the best stories I've seen here ever.

I finally figured you're talking about the General Manager. My first thought while reading your post was: "How typical, turning a thread about Ford into a GM bashing!"

I think not. I love my Chevy truck. I am just having problems with the customer service. I looked at the Tundra before I bought the Chevy. Did not like it. OTOH. The service dept where I bought our 05 Mustang GT is great.

Sounds like the Comcast tech (think it was actually a contractor) that came to my house for a cablemodem problem and wanted me to watch the cablemodem while he disconnected the cables at the house box to find out which one went to the cablemodem.

I told him I know which cable it is, they're labeled. He says, "Do you want to let me do my job?".

I said, "Sure, but this is my house and I know where the cables go."

Yeah, I always like service people who advise you on how to approach them...
