My First 24 hours being sick,CV19

My wife and I have avoided it so far. She has a compromised immune system, so we are a bit more cautious.

I personally know 4 people that died with it. I hesitate to say died from it, because it's tough to know. Either way, they are dead after not-to-serious illnesses.

I feel bad for some of the debilitating long lasting bad effects some people experience after having this menace.

I had it in May 2022 after months of intentionally seeking it out. I made the decision to stop wearing masks and living in fear. It was the sniffles for 2 days and my legs and arms hurt. I thought it was seasonal spring allergies because it was so mild.

I’m not particularly healthy but I do take vitamins, zinc and Quercitin which I’ve read can be effective early treatment.

I was PCR tested at 2 different locations as well, 1 was a local university and my HMO. The university tests were for research and they could guage the stage of your infection. Early, active and in recovery. The HMO tests were reporting an active infection while the university said I was in recovery then negative. I was still testing positive at The HMO while being negative at the university. It appears the HMO has calibrated their tests long after infection has cleared to report false positives for some unknown possibly unethical reason.
Wife dealt with this at her job in healthcare. The tests they used can still report a positive weeks after the infection has gone, up to 90 days. They are only to tell you have it, nothing more. I would imagine research test for uni would be much more accurate.

For her it was maddening with parents constantly calling and asking after a month why is the kid still testing positive.

It was weird when I had it. I'm a little on the hefty side and I have high blood pressure. I guess that can make it bad.

I woke up on a Friday morning, felt great. Took a nap at noon (pretty normal for me). Didn't feel great, but not sick. The condition went steadily down hill. Sore throat, etc. By 6pm I couldn't breathe for about 45 minutes. Well, air was going in and out of my lungs but they weren't doing anything. Slightly concerning.

That stopped by 7, felt crappy. Then made it up to a 102 fever, that broke at midnight. Woke up Saturday morning feeling completely normal except for the exhaustion. That lasted a week or two. Then on Tuesday of the next week, I lost my sense of smell and it still hasn't come back entirely.

I have had it 3 times. The first time it last a about 2 weeks and I was tired but able to get around and function. The second time was about a 3 day stint but not too bad. The third time I tested positive I barely knew I had it. I had a fever the first night and the next couple days I didn't feel bad at all. I hope you get well soon this virus affects people in a lot of different ways. Take care!

I'm still amazed at "The Dodgers", which are people that still haven't been affected. I don't know of anyone that qualifies any more. Mostly the same effect for everyone I know. Mildly ill for a couple of days or not at all, but that thing wildly varies on it's effects. Ride it out and move on...

My wife and I got it early on. We were miserable for two weeks. Just wanted to sit and not get up. But fortunately it was not as severe as some were getting it. Seems to be no lasting after effects.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I guess the moderators are letting us discuss discuss this and I’ll go with that. My wife had it but had the shots and it ended up being mild. I have not had it but did have the sequence of shots. I think we’ll eventually get shut down, but it’s pretty obvious the shots have not stopped a person from getting it but hopefully it is causing the effects to be mild. Good luck everyone.

Yeah, three years ago, the posts turned into contentious, political argument, with medical opinion thrown in.

Hence the policy.

For now, sharing your experience seems OK. The minute we get a political comment, or medical advice, we will have to lock it.

I’ve shared my experience. December 2021. Not a lot of fun. I was pretty sick for a couple of days in addition to the quarantine and awful timing.

I've had it twice. I was in Portland, kinda thankfully in my company truck in the middle of a 4 month sales trip where I flew home on weekends. I had a flight home in about 4 hours when it hit me hard . I decided to drive home instead of flying. Two miserable days driving. Once I got home I was on my back in bed for 2 weeks, zero energy, I mean zero. I couldn't even read a book. Second time was a week where I was still able to do things around the house, but I cancelled all my work trips and stayed away from the world.

I got it this week for the first time. I thought I had a mild cold and then I couldn’t taste my lunch. I stuck my nose in a jar of minced garlic and couldn’t smell it. I took the home test and I was positive. A day later my sense of taste and smell returned. All those free gubmint test kits were expired that were sent out but I used them anyway.

As others have said, welcome to the club! I was all vaxed and wore a mask 99% of the time. Only went to Costco, etc, at opening time. I was careful. Felt a cold coming on, which is rare; I never get sick. Rough night the 1st night, then tylenol and cold OJ did the trick.
I was better by 2 or 3 days, fever gone but still quarrantined for maybe 10 days, because I did not want to infect anyone.

I highly suggest cold OJ and water. Get some fresh air. Also, wifey brought me Mexican food from our favorite Mex restaurant. I swear that was the cure.

For almost a month I felt great in the morning but was wore out by late afternoon. Also, my reading comprehension was shot; concentration was bad. But all that is long gone.

I was careful - jabbed - and lucky - only one in family that never got it … BiL hit twice and mowing the grass etc …
OTH - Flu (never had either) knocked him down for a week …
Varies allot …

Yup! caught it last summer, first couple of days felt miserable, stayed in the guest room and wife brought me all my food and drink for 7 days back to normal after that week.

I used to say I've never had it. And I blabbed about how careful I was. Kinda like everyone who got it was at fault.
I was wrong; I am an idiot. Ha!
Good for you @4WD. Stay safe.

I think (just my uneducated opinion) that some people must have something that makes them more immune than others.
Unless you are a hermit on the side of some mountain somewhere, you pretty much must have been exposed.

Hope my vitamin mix helps - but nobody agrees on that either 🤷‍♂️
