Others on here have posted videos of there cold start, so I figured I would too. This is a cold start, especially in FL. I know many of you have much colder starts so spare me the "Thats not a cold start, its -300 here" talk. Sorry the video is upside down thats my fault, had the phone upside down when I took it. There is some clappy tappy tick sound when I start it, oil pressure gets up quick but sounds like it takes a while to get oil up top. Thats not piston slap, it does have piston slap but not until it idles down. What say you? draining ADBV or just thick oil. It was in the low 20's when I started it but it was in the mid-high teens all night. I started it up after work today (8 hours after I made the cold start video) and It started up nice and quiet. Here is the morning cold start video....

Here is the start 8 hours later. It got up to 40 something today...

Daaaang. You Canadians have it rough.

we saw three chevy 3.5 engines with bearing problems and one with a spun bearing .. all under 130,000 miles.. Top ends were great bottom end/crank and bearings wiped out.

What does that have to do with this thread? other than we have a Chevy 3.5. Thought those engines were supposed to be good.

Greg, below is my cold start. I think you may need a new battery friend. Your first start... that is what I sounded like when we hit -20 a couple of weeks ago (with no odd engine noise however)!

...running Quaker State Advanced Durability (plain old dino!) with a Honda A01 filter, but a big arse 800CCA Interstate MegaTron Plus.

Yeah It always seems to start a little slow, I would like to upgrade to a battery with more power.

Check your morning cold start video again. It's noisy because the car was upside down and the pickup was clearly starved for oil, regardless of the ambient temperatures.

I agree with Garak. Roll it right side up and you'll be golden.

PS It sounded pretty good to me.
