My car restorations in Bolivia

I am still restoring my cars and updating my sites as I progress. Periodically I'll still put some highlights on here, but I just got this message:

So I guess that those that want to see the details and the rest of the story will have to google. Richard's corvair works the best, then navigate to the others. The others aren't as popular with google yet.

Links to your business site - where you advertise a private business is not allowed. At the end of the pictures of vehicles is your business information. That is why I removed the link. I do not allow non sponsors to advertise their companies. I did not have a problem with you keeping the members updated with your hobby.

When are you going to finish the Renault and Mini? Your restoration skills are amazing.

The nice thing about hobbies is you don't have deadlines. And this is Bolivia.

At the moment, the Mini is getting its face lift, although that gets delayed since my body guy is one of the best, and since people love to drink and drive, his shop keeps getting filled up. I finally have transport lined up from Chile to Bolivia for the engine, but have to wait for a road block to break up. The people of a town along the way have blocked the road for 10 days, asking for the Mayor's resignation.

The Renault is in my garage in Tarija, where I play when I get there. I will be back in mid-January, hopefully for a couple of months. I'll get a lot done then. But still looking for some parts.

I told myself it would be less time than the Corvair. That took 30 months.

Back in Tarija I've managed to get some time for the cars. The Mini is still in the body shop, with little progress, but I did bring the rear frame home to fix up.

Since the Renault is here at home, I'm getting more done on it. Lots more on my site, but here are a few pics.


Here is what I did with the manifolds

The engine and power train is pretty much ready for assembly after some sand blasting and treating with Rustoleum Rust Reformer. I've chosen a green engine paint fairly close to the original.

Finally some progress in the body shop. Today they cut out the floor and started cutting out the front frame.

Tomorrow I'll assemble the transmission on the Renault.
