My buddy says his 2014 F150 STX tuxedo black crew cab with tow package 5.0 coyote is a race truck.

hy does he think he has a race truck? It's a stock truck and isn't a 3.5 actually faster?
Maybe... would have to look up 0-60 times.
He is the one who told me to run 0w-8 in my 5.7 350 small block.
but I think we found the root of the problem. Either he's having fun pulling your leg, he enjoys a good laugh, or he shares much in common with a bag of hammers.

YA he messes with me sometimes, but it goes both ways.

There are people that purposefully order new F-150s that are a 5.0 regular cab, short bed, 2wd, xl, with a 5.0 and 10R80. Ford Performance and Whipple make superchargers that will put them in the high 700hp range. Those are racetrucks. One of the sales guys here has one and it is a beast.
I think I've seen those but with awd or 4x4?

No, this is a race truck.

People buy stripped down F150s with a little bed and cab with the 5.0 and turn them into sleepers. I wouldn’t call it a race truck though. They do seem like a cheap yet fun alternative to a modern muscle car.

Tell him a stock tundra, same year, would beat his “race truck”.

My Xterra is spec'd 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. Does that make it a race Xterra?

I think it is likely a little faster than my Fronty - it weighs a couple hundred pounds less.

Can't say for sure - couldn't tell you the last time it was WOT. Probably years. A decade maybe? Probably 8 seconds with my lard but in it anyway.
