2 weeks ago I was unable to access my online banking. So I called the bank the next day and spoke with a lady that assured me that things were fixed.

They were not.

I Had to wait till Saturday. Went to the bank and got that straightened out with new passwords and security questions. So I thought.

I then went to a tire store and ordered some tires. I paid with my debit card.

Tuesday my boss tells me that my bank kicked back my paycheck(I have direct deposit).

So back to the bank I went on my lunch hr. I was assured that this was a fluke or that the payroll lady punched in a wrong number. So she (payroll lady)tried it again and it got booted back again.

The payroll lady asked me to get a phone # from my bank so I called them @9A today. They won't give me the # but instead tried to help me over the phone.

Now they do not show that I bank there! Nothin!Zero. I don't exist! Now I was beginning to get concerned. When they could not help me I got transferred to "Bob" in IndiA.

After an hr of total frustration with "Bob" due to his lack of English Language skills I got transferred to "Stacey" who must have been right across the hall from "Bob" and also was lacking in English language skills.

Stacey could not even find my Account # using any of my personel info. After 1.5 hrs of "Stacey" she told me that she was sorry but she could not help me and thanked me for using Chase bank.

I said "What?". She answered "Chase bank". I don't bank with Chase! I bank with a small "Hometown" bank!
Somehow during all this time and being transferred to "Bob and then "Stacey" I got transferred to a bank I don't have an account at! I wasted 2.5 hrs on the phone spelling my name out and trying to understand "Bob" and "Stacey" with their broken English!!

So now I had lost patience with these Idiots. My boss understood that and told me to go to my bank and not to leave until this was fixed.

Before I could leave The phone rang. The tire store asked me if I still wanted the tires as my payment for them had been cancelled .

I got to the bank, skidded up onto the curband up on the sidewalk ,ran in the door absolutly furious! The security guard went in after me and was watching me.

I asked to talk with the manager as Politely as I could. I told her my story and told her that I was not leaving until this was fixed. She was very friendly and her and 2 other bank people were making calls and typing as fast as they could. I was just about ready to climb the walls!

They told me that all direct deposits go through Chase bank. Chase added an extra # to my account # somehow and that somehow locked my account up.

The nice lady told me that she fixed it this time. She asked me to check after midnight to see if my direct deposit cleared.

So tomorrow things will be ok or I'm going to be in jail for tearing up a bank and handcuffing a security guard with his own cuffs.

God I hate banks! I went round and round with BBVA awhile back. And of course I as well had to deal with some bozo who couldn`t talk right. If you can`t speak, pronounce, and spell our words correctly, get the [censored] out of American businesses, especially banks, where these assclowns are messing with out finances. Totally unacceptable.

And here`s the newest b.s. with them. If you make a deposit or withdrawal, they give you NO reciept! [censored] is up with that? If someone is going to play with my money,I demand a receipt. I had this freak of nature teller give me an attitude about the reciept thing one time. Here was this clown, face full of metal and all tattooed up,working at a BANK?? What a disgrace and completely unprofessional. Who the [censored] wants to do business with someone like that? Anyway,I now bank with one who at lease has professional clean cut employees,AND I get reciepts :^)

There's too many banks out there to deal with one that is this incompetent.

As soon as they finally get it all straightened out, and you're sure that you've got every dollar that you had before this all started... withdraw it all, close every account, and find yourself a good Credit Union instead.

+1, handled poorly, not worth the risk as the next issue could come at worse time (travelling, emergency, etc).

Wow. I've heard of people having trouble with Chase.

Foreign call center: if you demand to be transferred to someone in the US, they are required to do it.

Direct Deposit, once set up, shouldn't fail. If they don't fix it this time, permanently, go to another bank. And be sure to report the old bank to the BBB.

(Finally, if there's any further delay I'd ask your job to issue a paper check while you get this sorted out)

Sounds like gross incompetence, if this happened once it could easily happen again. Make sure your current account is in order and correct, and then find a credit union, and leave your current bank.

Never had troubles with Chase. Everything is perfect, can't say that about my previous bank- 5/3, I just hate them, and they actually get sued last year or 2. It was funny and upsetting, that they said: "oh, we are out of money, so we can only give you $26 instead of $150 (those that I could prove)after they were blamed and proved to be guilty in making people go overdraft on purpose. Made me furious because those @$%$^ charge you $30 for 2 cents over, and don't even ask(and deposits were hold for up to 5!!!days after you got check ot put in cash)
Anyway, I bank with Chase for last several years, my corporate account thru JP Morgan(aka Chase) has call center in US, no problems with both so far.

I had major issues with a telephone company a while back. They had no lobby to storm! They did everything over the phone

and you couldn't pin them down to get their story straight.

I had a B of A ATM "eat" a postcard shaped rebate check. It went in, it disappeared. (No deposit envelope) I called the 800 number on the back of my ATM card, they said derpa-derpa derp. So when the bank office was open I was in the manager's office. She called the 800 number on the back of my card!!! They gave up and just gave me the money. They'll find that check and ten years of dandruff when they disassemble the machine!

I had a joint account with my wife at another bank, circa 2001. Online banking kept breaking every week with them. When my login broke I started using my wife's. When it broke I called their call center and pretended I was her. I was told it was illegal to log in as my wife!!!

They lost my business shortly thereafter. I took my money in cash (as it hurt their logistics more) and they were like "well you know you can call CS and they'll fix it". This was after I moved my direct deposit etc to a new, competent bank.

Oh, and there's Key bank, who had a known malfunctioning ATM eat my card. Their teller said it happened all the time.

Even credit unions can be bad. I had my savings (and most of what was in my checking account) stolen by First Source Federal Credit Union.

Unfortunately, after they stole my money, I couldn't afford to hire a lawyer to sue them.

Sucks having to start at $0 - I'd own my car by now if it wasn't for that incident.

That is horrible.

I bank with a small Credit Union that has always been wonderful -- good service and never a problem.

I can actually talk to them too. Had a problem getting to the CU to pay my car loan one month (had broken my leg about a week before the due date and was tied up) and they weren't angry and didn't penalize me. Brought it a week late and they were OK.

As I am reading the original post I started thinking to myself that Chase must be involved before I even got to part where they are mentioned. Ugh.

I have a related ATM story. One time at night I deposited cash in to an ATM at a Chase bank. I accidentally typed the amount of the deposit much lower than what I fed into the ATM. I quickly later realized my mistake. But the reciept listed the amount I typed in and not the higher amount that I fed into the ATM.

I went back the next day and the bank said some other company unloads the ATM and that they could not correct the amount. I could almost understand that if it was some ATM at a store but this one was on the bank's property. I don't know if that still can happen that the ATM would not credit your actual deposit and just credit what you typed in?
