Mustang GT transmissions

I see 2011 and 2012 Mustang 5.0's with the Chinese transmission at the track regularly.

Other than a few early model shift fork problems, they seem to be holding up to repeated 12 second 1/4 mile runs. The few owners I've talked to don't have any transmission complaints.

Time will tell.

I think the 5 speed manual trannies are tremecs. Didn't they go getrag with the 5.0,or had they been using them prior.
I know for sure that in 1999 and 2000 the 5 speeds were a t-45. The t-45 was basically identical to the t-5 that was married to the foxes 5.0 windsors.
Then in 2001 ford used up the rest of their t-45 stock and switched over to the t-3650 which had a bit better gearing when mated to the 4.6 and could handle slightly more torque than the t-45 it replaced.
The t-56 was a six speed and came in the termi,I'm not sure if it was installed in any of the 05 and newer models however Shelby likely used them in his boosted monsters.
The getrag is suffering from Internet amplification. One of my mustang sites just exploded when there was a couple of members with potential problems but then everyone with a new mustang was at the dealer giving them a hard time.
I think its a crying shame that an American pony car has communist parts installed on it. The mustang represents a sense of freedom and so on yet this American icon is funding a regime that represents the exact opposite.
Irony

IF I were to buy one of the sub-GT500 models, I would set aside/allocate funds to swap in a built T56/TR6060, just out of national pride, even if nothing was wrong with the Sino-made Getrag units.

I agree, but they had to save money somewhere. The Mustang demographic is very price sensitive. This obviously excludes the Halo model, the GT500.

Beware Internet Amplification as the problem seems limited in scope...

i'm sure your biased preposition has just as much to do with your impression of other peoples opinion. fortunately, hundreds of thousands completely disagree with your ideals.

Never been one to follow the crowd, both Hyundai and Kia are severely lacking in my book as well.

Tons of toys, no real content. YMMV, and I won't hold it against you either.

I rented a Kia Amanti which is their flagship a few years ago. Felt nice and rode good. Fuel economy was a bit below what it should have been on the road at about 24 mpg. With only about 6,000 miles on it the steering wheel developed an annoying clicking noise every time you moved the steering wheel to the right. The really annoying part was that I was on some very winding roads in WV and had to be annoyed by it the entire trip. Maybe a fluke but I doubt it they just lack the quality. I have been working in the automotive field for years and they use way too much plastic in areas where metal should be used for wear applications. There is a reason why Mercedes is so costly as they do use the best of the best in parts. When most manufactures will uses a standard motor mount costing $2 MB will spend $60-80 on a hydro bushing using a solenoid to change it's dynamics under a load. Just depends on what you want but you always get what you pay for and cheap is that cheap. We all have our experience and opinions and that is why it is great here to share them.
