MaxLife oil did not hurt your engine, if anything did the Restore crap did something negative.

Do you know the history of owners for this car? 110,000 miles when beaten to death daily is a hard life. I've owned 7 mustangs from 5.0's in Fox bodies to the 2003 Terminator. These cars get the crap beaten out of them 99% of the time and most kids that own them do NOT do proper maintenance! The 4.6 is a VERY reliable little engine and usually survives pretty well.

I've had friends with low mileage stangs at the track putting 20 passes on them every weekend at the local test and tune. These cars will take a beating!

Update: Spent the last two weeks changing valve seals. The old ones were discolored, very hard, and did not want to return to their original round shape when I did manage to squish them in my hands. I doubt they were sealing anything.

It doesn't smoke anymore

I also replaced the leaking valve cover gaskets, which fell apart as I removed the covers. The heads were absolutely spotless.
