I watch some of these TV shows about murder - 48 Hours, Joe Kenda, Cold Case with Bill Kurtis, etc., and I find it fascinating to see the things people do, and the reasons they do them. I recently watched an episode where a guy who had had multiple affairs finally convinces his latest girlfriend to kill his wife. For some reason, he thought this would be better than getting a divorce. And he thought a woman that was capable of killing and dismembering his wife would be a good life partner.

In another case, an anesthesiologist who thought a divorce would cost him too much, poisoned his wife with carbon monoxide.

There's also the guy who thought his neighbors played their music too loud, and somehow managed to poison some of their bottles of Coca-Cola with a thallium compound. They all got sick, and the mother died.

These are for the most part, just ordinary folks. In the first story above, both husband and wife worked at a supermarket. But for some reason, they hatch these bizarre, complicated plots to kill someone, and follow through with them. Then they don't think they'll be caught.

It's surprising how many of these cases there are (after all, they keep several TV series on the air), and just how utterly stupid the reasons for most of the murders are.

Sadly these cases ring true in real life too. They don't always make up the stories they simply read the paper.

Crazy world we live in.. I enjoy Investigation Discovery.. yeah some of these are scary in a sense that it can happen to anyone. Wouldnt it be easier to politely ask to turn the music down??!!

These are documentary series that I'm talking about, not made-up stories.

The First 48 on A&E is pretty good also. Pretty interesting when they had some shows from the local area or not that far away. The show documents the first 48 hours after a homicide.

that was a local case. he's currently appealing in fed. court. (no surprise)

It's such a subjective term.....statutorily little difference in every state yet a world of difference in application.

Shows are just that...shows! Real life can be exciting but as whole much more mundane than most realize.

This is what gets me. Yes, I want to sleep with someone at night that chopped up my last wife. Scary.

John

And those are mostly solved cases. Imagine ALL the cold cases still pending. Just a reminder for us all to "keep our guard up" and remind our loved ones and friends that as well. We just never know who we just might bump into in our daily routines.

Recidivist murderers still walk this earth and the following are just the glorified cases. LINK LINK Imagine the cases that the dots have not been connected yet.

Yet we haven't even talked about these recidivist lowlifes and this is just one town in one State. LINK

Very funny, given that in most of these cases the "loved ones" are getting murdered!!

One happenned local where a kid & friend had his grandma write a check for $3,000 to a buddy who helped do her in & thought she had $45,000 in the house somewhere. Really for sad.

I never got caught killing time but feel guilty now that I'm short on it.

There was one here a few years ago where a teenager killed this older guy who was molesting him. One of the weapons used iirc was a glass pickle jar that was crushed on the older guys head. The kid went on to the Oprah show to talk about molestation and the attack.

That Sir is not murder, but justice.

I speak to your killing time comment.....You are very correct. I' 41 and by 35 I swore I wouldn't get lazy and let time past me by only to be OLD and wish I did more. Life is short, you need to capture it while you can; be responsible to you and yours; and IMHO learn as much as you can before you pass. To me, knowledge is everything.

A Vlasic case of self defense.
