MTF 95 Neon

John Deere HyGard & HyGard LV (Low Viscosity) are fantastic in most MTs I've tried it in. It's GL4 rated, high quality and not pricey. Available at your local dealer.

In a colder climate I would use LV, for a heavy-duty or hot climate I would use regular HyGard.

Been digging for suggestions on an MTF for my neon. Most sources say 5w30 Full Synthetic but some people suggest against it and say Synchromesh. “No gear oil” transmission. Would Supertech Full Synthetic 5w30 work or should I pay the extra bucks and pour Mobil 1 in it?

Pennzoil Synchromesh, Valvoline Synchromesh, RP Synchromax, GM Synchromesh, Honda MTF, or possibly Redline MTL

You can mix the MT90 and MTL as Mitsubishi has a in between recommended and thats how Redline used to sell it as a kit for the EVO

the stuff that come out stunk like sulfur so I assume someone put some basic 80w90 GL-5 in it. Is this thing screwed?

I would agree that there was probably a non-brass compatible GL5 oil in there. Damage may have been done but I would do one or two "fill / road test / drain" with a cheap flushing oil like a basic 5w/10w30. If it drains clean I would fill with an appropriate MT fluid and see how it goes.
