MT Synth Gear Oil

Hello,

I'm trying to find something compatible with this brand of gear oil: Royal Purple Max Gear

I need one which has a lower pour point as I live in Canada and it can get pretty cold up here in the winter. Something in the range of -35 to -45 Celcius would be good.

Must meet GL-4 and GL-5 specs with friction modifiers for LSD in a manual transmission.

Make that GL-4 only and 75W90 for the SAE

Most fluids are compatible. I haven't found any that wouldn't mix that were similar specs.

I just read your 2nd post. This fits the bill nicely:

Amsoil MTG 75W-90 GL-4

Problem is that oil which seems to fit the best doesn't say anything about friction modifiers for the LSD.

I emailed the company to inquire about the missing details about LSD operation.

If you use a non-FM'd gear oil, a little LSD additive should do the trick. Just use enough to elimate any noticeable binding/chatter/noise. Being a FWD car equipped with a ECU nanny, I doubt that the LSD is tight. I wouldn't be surprised if no lsd additive was needed.
Too much LSD additive might add to shifting notchiness.

The MTG shouldn't need any additional FM's. Indeed - undummy speaks big truth.

I use Redline MT90, 75W-90 GL-4, in my Toyota mt. Changed original fill at 5k miles. Seems to shift a lot smoother, but may be my imagination. I shall be changing every 2 years. Also use appropriate Redline in tfr box and diff of my Toyota awd truck.

I'm awaiting a reply from amsoil and found a dealer close to me (within 50 miles). I'm in Canada so Amsoil dealers aren't very common here.
