The real Supergirl; she can fly. Ms. Biles stands 4'8". She literally jumped 8' in the air. OMG.

I was surprised to hear she was 4'8". My wife is 4'10" and we almost never meet adults shorter than her.

I'm happy for her! Pressure and nerves got the better of her at times in the past, but this Olympic cycle seems to be her "victory lap" as one of the all-time greats!

In terms of jumping ability, maybe she should move to track and field, the high jump, next? How fun would that be?

Not to take away from her accomplishments. I believe the floor is somewhat elastic. Which means she wouldn't get the same jump in a track and field event compared to the floor exercise arena.

Still, she is the GOAT and for that we celebrate.

Yes, the floor has bounce which certainly helps. Her kinetic energy from speed and leg strength combined with the mat propel her.
Importantly, landing is far safer with the give in the mat.

She is truly amazing, and if she doesn't always smile and get along with her teammates, I can't think of any GOAT that always did.
Not only are they teammates, but they are also each other's competition depending on the event. Kyle Busch didn't always see eye to eye with Denny Hamlin either and they were teammates too.

Folks - I have had to remove derogatory and political comments. We can celebrate an athlete’s accomplishments but it is both off topic and unacceptable to start questioning her relationships and politics.
I didn't see them but it's pathetic that anyone is so ignorant that they couldn't hold themselves back.... 🤨

I will say this and I believe it should be safe to say: Folks, watch the athletic and sporting event and the competitors !! This is what the Olympics are about.

She would have to untrain all hear power muscle for another sport then. The physique of track and fielder / high jumpers are very different than a gymnast. It is not the best thing for her career.

Ms. Biles started her journey to greatness at 6 years of age. The dedication and mental toughness to even compete in an Olympic event, especially gymnastics, is daunting. Simone Biles is the greatest athlete I have ever seen. Her recovery from the mental injury she suffered 4 years ago in Tokyo required significant counseling and hard work. Simply amazing.

Teammates have to push each other to up their game. These are elite athletes.

Please allow me to expand on my earlier discussion about what’s acceptable and what’s not.

We criticize Scotty Kilmer for those things he chose to share with Public, his technical points, the style of his presentation, even the way his videos are edited.

We do the same thing with Lake Speed Junior - we argue about the technical points he made, and we can even criticize his presentation style, because he chose to share those things with the public.

But nobody is commenting his relationship with his father. Nobody has posted on Scotty’s relationship with his wife.

See the difference?

If you have a comment about Simone Biles, her medal record, or her technical prowess, then those would be acceptable.

Digging into a celebrity’s private life, those things that they have chosen not to share with the public, is distasteful, and going to get taken down. That stuff belongs on social media. Not here.

Bob is the oil guy. Not the gossip guy.

Especially when it's the 'athlete' making those petty and divisive comments on the World stage, and I get to hear about it on the 'News' whether I want to or not...

I would state that is not gossip. It is commenting on the comments the athlete themselves chose to grace the World with.

Again, you are referring to political commentary from an athlete. That is an intrinsically political post, which crosses the line for us here.

We would not allow Elon Musk’s political commentary on here, any more than we would allow Scotty Kilmer‘s political commentary on here.

So, if you have something to say that doesn’t violate our rules, I welcome it.

But politics, whether those comments were made by a politician, athlete, or a person here, do not belong in these pages.

She is an amazing athlete. No doubt.

The cool thing to me is her ability to overcome the mental issue when she was airborne. I mean impossible feat for me in the best of times/shape, but to put that behind her and compete? Wow.

And no mention of Suni Lee? Sure she may not be the GOAT, but still on the world stage with incurable kidney disease??

This are some tough women. Size is simply not relevant.
