My dad came over recently with his new chevy colorado for its 1st oil change. Its an automatic, 3.5, Z71 2wheel drive, extended cab. I asked him the mileage, he stated he got 23mpg on a road trip from ohio to minnesota. He did say his previous S10, a 4.3 extended cab got 24mpg on the same trip. But his mileage might improve on the colorado with time, it still has less then 10k miles on it.

Thanks for link Mike. I should have been a little more clear....I was asking what people are REALLY getting, but in Dif's case it seems pretty close to the govs.

You will often find that poeple give a more rosey picture than reality. Many will only check the mileage after one trip and thats will be the story line for years.

I not so Anal that I keep detailed records plotted on a graph on the wall, but I do check the fuel economy just about every time in all of my vehicles.

I do that too. I keep a log book in the car. At every fill-up, I record mileage, date, dollars, gallons, Brand, octane, and how much (in oz) FP I have added (if any). My wife thinks I am nuts.
