Mower storage for the winter

Clean out the cutting deck and spindles.
Grease the zerks.
Run the tank almost dry.
Change the oil and filter.
Run my tank dry (Always use 0 ethanol spiked with Seafoam).
Push into shed for winter.
Remove battery and put on a battery tender in my basement.
Wish it was mowing weather for the next 6 months.

When I had my push mower. I’d run stabil in my fuel had a plastic tank so corrosion was no issue pull the rope a few short strokes till it was tight removed the plug and gave 2 or 3 squirts of white lithium grease reinserted plug thru a cover over it till April. Also scraped underside of deck free of grass sprayed a thin coat of galvanized primer and if the blade still had life coat with some grease

What all do you do for winter storage of your lawn mower / tractor.

All I do is remove the battery and also drained the gas tank.

Maybe change the oil? Gas stabilizer?

Run engine until runs out of gas.

Clean on top and underneath the deck.

Sharpen blades.

Mouse repellent.

I only go though about 6-8 gallons of gas per year in my equipment so I just run Stabil year round in all of it. I remove the battery from the riding mower and bring it indoors. My 4 stroke equipment gets an oil change and all of the equipment gets the filters and plugs looked over and replaced as needed. I keep the fuel topped off in all of it and most of the time I'm running 10% ethanol and it has been fine. Going into the 6th year of doing it this way and haven't had any issues.

Don't see what running for 30 mins during the winter actually accomplishes.

I could be wrong, but it seems to pop off quicker when spring comes.

I don't let seafoam or lucas anywhere near my engines.

I only change the oil & filter and grease the spindles/chassis. I don't do anything special with the fuel but run MMO normally anyway.

I've had great luck with it, been using it religiously for the last 20 years.

Seafoam dosn't have ethanol in it. It has Isopropanol . Ethanol attracts moisture or water, Isopropanol does not.

Since switching to E0 gas for all my equipment I don’t even think about storage anymore. It’s good to go whenever I need it next.

True, but if it's not broken, why fix it? The only small engine trouble I've ever had was a Chinese Troy Bilt 4 cycle weed eater and I'm pretty sure that thing wouldn't have ran well if I used the tears of Mother Mary herself as a gas additive. That thing was doomed for failure the moment it left Beijing.

This winter plan: October - April

Draining the 10% ethanol gas out of tank.

Starting the tractor until it stops running.

Fill up the tank with premium fuel.

Start the tractor one last time to let the premium fuel get into the system.

I've never used Stabil,Seafoam etc. Tractor always starts in the Spring.

I can't speak for you, but where I live premium fuel also has 10% Ethanol.

I am fortunate to have a nearby source of ethanol free 89 octane fuel. I've been running this in all of my 4-cycle OPE for the last three years. At the end of the mowing season I add some Sta-bil. Some lesser used machine get run dry, but I keep fuel in the lawn tractor. Everything starts back up in the spring...

As for the snow blowers... I have an Ariens 4-cycle machine that gets the same treatment as the summer lawn toys. I give it E0 gas but treat it with Sta-bil, then run it dry at the end of the season. The older 2-cycle blower has been living on Tru-Fuel 50:1 ethanol free pre-mix but I spike that with some Seafoam before running it dry at the end of the season.

Yeah for me it's fun experimenting,even if it's just storage for the winter I did actually think about throwing some Tru-Fuel in the tank by itself but I'm not this time around.

Out of curiosity, I added It's supposed to help stabilize fuel and I figure it will help clean some debris in the carb in the Spring.

Curious to find out how you address/apply mouse repellent once its parked in a shed.. plz
Ive had to fix mouse damage before, coil pack wire was chewed right through, but that was on the previous owner..
My shed is a little better suited against mice... but I would like a little more defense...
