I get it from a local Audi shop or a Subaru shop. Annapolis Subaru, which is a sponsor over at Subaruforester.org can get any Motul oil carried by the distributor in MD. Although if it's not one they stock, you'll probably have to order it by the case (at a good discount).

Just a note that the Subaru recommendation on Eco-clean is for the Euro 2.0 diesel engine.

Eco-clean is targeted at catalytic converter longevity and lower emissions. Eco-lite is their "jack of all trades" multi-use oil.

At first glance this grade of ECO CLEAN doesn't seem to be available in Canada. I see a light ECO CLEAN 5W30 but not 'your' 0W30.

I spoke to Motul Canada yesterday (they're in Vaughan) and they will bring in a 12L case for me.
Wouldn't confirm the price but said it would be "a bit more than for the Eco-clean 5W-30". Don't know what the 5W-30 is by the case but I'm guessing about $160.

Thanks CAT for reaserching this oil - I know you are on the hunt for the highest VI out there

Playing devil's advocate for a second: Appears as a marginal 20wt oil in 30wt guise. Isnt the HTHS too low for a ILSC 30 grade? I suppose it round up to a measly 2.9. In 2008, My chain tensioner on my toyota was constantly sticking with my high;y researched Motul Econergy 5w-30. I dont like artificially OVER boosted vi.
All grumping aside, I bet all those little hondas in Canada will luv this stuff. If not, I wouldn'y cry over a few dead hondas

No argument that you could consider this a 20wt oil in a 30wt guise. It is after all lighter on start-up than EVERY 20wt oil available and therefore ideally suited to any 20 application.

Since this is predominately a GP IV based oil it may very well use less VIIs than the very high VI 0W-20 oils from Toyota and Idemitsu.
There is an informative article on the benefits of using VIIs in motor oil in this months Tribology and Lubrication Technology. Check it out below:

There is a Motul dealer nearby, but he will only order in a FULL case lot at a time.
This was 12 2 liter cans when I was asking about the 5W-30 and 10W-40 300V (he ONLY carried the 15W-50 in 300V on the shelf for the Porschie open trackers

I'd REALLY like to know just how much, and what type of VIIs must be added to this stuff in order to get that astronomical VI number.
YES, Motul is quite reputable and quality conscious, and I trust that they would only use the very highest quality VIIs, but that number is INSANE!!!

They just said they would import a case for me but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I'm exploring other sourcing options including the States which is usually much cheaper than Canada. I'll keep in touch.

Motul SA, welcome to BITOG and thanks for participating in this thread.

Bummer about the VI, but we all make mistakes. It's still higher than any other API certified 30wt I can think of. Redline matches it at 183, but is not API certified.

That's weird, the Motul post and my reply has been eliminated from the thread!

Anyway, while it matches the VI of RL 0W-30, the RL oil is much heavier with a HTHSV of 3.2cP vs 2.87cP for Motul. In fact the Motul oil is even heavier than RL 0W-20 (HTHSV 3.0cP, 166 VI).
Besides RL is more comparable to Motul's 300V ester based range of oils.

List price of Eco-clean 5W-30 is $167 according to Amazon, and the sale price is $113. If Amazon sells Eco-Clean 0W-30 for $120 a case, then it is a good buy.

looks like they ship to Canada too

They don't carry the Eco-Clean in 0w30, we already established that earlier in this thread. I believe someone was going to ask if they could get it.

They will bring it in at about 12bucks/L by the case.

With an actual VI of "only" 183 there are less expensive, more readily available options. For example a blend of the Toyota or Idemitsu 0W-20 and RL 0W-40 with give a 200 VI 0W-30 ranging from light to heavy, whatever you want.

It's probably in the terms of use someplace, but I'd like to know why?

Motul shared their Facebook page so that's my guess as to why, but they also provided real data. Seems like they could've just edited the promo material out of the post rather than delete it all together.
