To be used in a classic car with high miles that burns some oil.
I could have 5L of the Motul for 23,70 Euros.
Or 5L of the VR1 for 33,00 Euros.
I WAS going to order up the Valvoline VR1 today but then i saw the Motul 4100 which is quite a bit cheaper yet seems to be really good at the same time... i have a severe problem with indecisiveness

I hope you aren't bored already of my posts ( Nick1994 , Shannow etc... )

IMO if burning oil, its a little too late to be running Boutique oils, which would probably raise contamination levels cause they don't burn well. Id just run a standard 20/50 or 15w40 diesel, in your favorite Valvoline, shell, mobil product.

also running high mileage oils with seal swell agents are 50/50 whether they actually cause a leak, so use non seal swell first.

Both of those oils are cheaper than what i am running now and for example i could have that Motul "boutique" oil for actually less than a 15w40 HDEO that i can get locally.
It doesn't burn a whole lot either so cost is not an issue.

Nothing wrong with running Motul in your Essex V6 in my opinion. You get a good deal on oil from an reputable company.

By the way ... you havn't posted anything from your Capri for a while ... are you done with changing valve seals as you had planned?

Motul looks good, I'd say go Motul. Plus it is a 15W and in the frisky Spain winter (joke) it may help a bit!

Edit : since you no longer have oil burning issues, what about Motul 6100 in 10W40? Don't know for Spain but here 4100 and 6100 are often similarly priced.

It may no longer burn a lot of oil , but it still has 150k miles on it and 20w50 was the spec for these engines when new.
It gets seriously hot here in the summer and 20w50 helps it maintain proper oil pressure so i don't want a 10w40 in there.

Why would i use a 5w50 though? i know it would be a full synthetic and would flow much better when cold but a 15w or 20w50 does the job just fine, also cold starts are not a big issue at all where i live.

FCD,

Penrite HPR 30 mineral 20W-60

You know you want to.

Apart from that, Motul is at a good price. Save your money for some Spanish beer.
