try a diesel oil of the CI-4 range and you will be close enough.
Bye the way ZDDP is amber brown BUT the dark color of his oil is IMHO due to high CA or older style diapersants NOT the ZDDP it adds very little color.

I seriously doubt I'd try this myself without seeing a VOA on it first as well as talking to someone who's been using it. Just something in the back of my head says that jug the guy's holding used to hold his washer fluid.

I saw that in the local paper here too and was considering it myself.
I thought all diesel oils have been cut way back on additives now too so I ddin't think that was a option, I haven't seen any new VOA's on them.

it seems just a little higher than dino oil but with more zn and php than a regualr dino oil off the shelf.

Is there a new voa on amsoil pablo? I'm looking at my options.

No not all diesel oils. Just CJ-4's. And even those have enough Zn and P for protection of gasoline engines.

Which Amsoil are you talking about? ACD SAE 30/10W-30? I don't think there is a VOA (there might be) but the UOA's all show lots additives, in fact as much of any of Amsoil's oils. Remember, though any $20 VOA/UOA is easily off 100 ppm on P.

UOA on ACD
In line with these:

I say "good for him", he and his partner saw a need and filled it, and they are not ripping anyone off, either. At least they got off ther a$$ and did something instead of being a bunch of negative nitwits that spend all there time on an oil forum site. Good for them.

"""they are not ripping anyone off"""

"""Kinda spendy at $14.50 for a conventional oil""

sorry $14 gallon is a rip off when you can still buy CI-4 diesel for way less.

"Kinda spendy at $14.50 for a conventional oil. Same amount of Zn as Amsoil at about 1250 ppm. Amsoil PC price is $20 gallon. "

Agreed. Might be worth it if it were a blend or synthetic, but a conventional oil?

Sounds good Pablo, that voa is a little old but if nothing has changed by Amsoil to meet the new standards then it should still be good, why doesn't Amsoil have to change to the new standards?

Also what deisel oils have not lowered the aditive package?

I may be interested in Amsoil oil for my hotrod i'm completing, it will have a prett powerfull engine so I might have to go with your racing oil or maybe the 10/40 oil.
How do I find the prices and ordering information for Amsoil.
thanks.

As long as Amsoil is not claiming CJ, no need to lower the additive package. You can enter through my site:

If you want to get anything near a case it makes too much sense to become a preferred customer and save 20-25%

I have been using Motorhead Classic in six collector cars for nearly a year now. My mechanic, who is a racing engine builder, recommended it. It isn't as expensive as all that, because I buy 8 gallons at a time, and the price drops to only $12.50 per gallon.

All of the oil companies will tell you "there is plenty of zinc in our oil", even when they are trying to sell you "SM" or "CJ" oil.

Motorhead is the only oil that I know of that is willing to tell you "exactly how much" zinc their oil contains. And it's alot. 1250 ppm is just the minimum they guarantee. Their "typical" figure is 1500 ppm. I have had a sample actually tested, and it was above 1600 ppm. That's up there in Royal Purple and Mercedes Benz territory, but without the big price tag.

BTW Motorhead Oil has a website that explains about the importance of the zinc(www.motorheadoil.com).

So you guys think a little more than $3 a quart is expensive? Im sure people that use this oil in their classic cars dont change it every three months. It can probably stay in their quite a while as they dont get driven much. So the cost doesnt really matter that much.
