Do you really mean "quality"? As far as I'm concerned, Motorcraft filters are very high quality and are all I will use on my Ford products.
If you're trying to compare efficiency or dirt-hold capacity or some other number, I think they're closer to a Classic, but it isn't really a fair comparison as they're made to Ford's specs.

The vendor depends on the individual part number, but overall yes they are very high quality, especially considering the price.

they are not pure ones they are more the classic but have some ford input.. Good filters great flow i like them for my fords.. I do once a year changes on my fords almost always under 7000 miles
Only time I haven't used an FL-820s on my 3.0L Fusion was a few years back... used a Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter... more noise on cold starts, so I switched back to MC mid-OCI. Did I need to? Who knows... but the start-up noise went away. Haven't looked back since. I posted a used oil analysis a few years back too... it showed me no reason to move away from a MC oil filter, so I just confidently go to Wal-Mart before every OCI, get my $3.97 oil filter and spin it on... sleeping well at night.

I picked up a BUNCH from advance. They were $3.69 plus I used their %30 off code. So they ended up being $2.59 a piece!
Motorcrafts rock! A lot of features but still at entry level pricing.
I have not seen any media tears on a Motorcraft either, although one or two lately were posted where the endcap popped off.

The Classic is listed as being around 97.5% whereas the Motorcraft FL820S was tested to be approx 93.7%. The same test rated Toyota filters to be around 51% efficient and Toyota engines generally last a long time, so I tend to give less weight to the efficiency rating. As Spock once said: "A difference which makes no difference IS no difference".

I have always said i like the flow and classic's and motorcrafts have the flow... I take oil flow over clean oil anytime i prefer dirty oil over flow issues
Exceptional oil filters. Been a while back, but I posted some pics on here of just an FL1A filter (for my truck) cut open. I tell ya one thing, that was a TOUGH filter to get into. And when I got inside, I saw zero flaws on the used filter along with, well, simply put, great quality.
One benefit of the MC is their use of silicone for the ADBV instead of nitrile...
Unless you have an application using the FL1A, for example, which still uses nitrile.
