I have for your amusement a Motorcraft FL-910S oil filter dissection. This filter was on my Wife's 22 Ford Bronco Sport with the 1.5L 3cyl Ecoboost engine. Was run for 5,036 miles over 6 months using NAPA 5W-20 Semi-Synthetic oil. Was replace with a Motorcraft FL-2114 oil filter and Amazon Basics HM 5W-30 oil.

As the pictures show, the media tore at the wide pleat crimp area both top and bottom. Bit of excessive glue also but I can overlook that but not the torn media. Really thought Purolator/Mann-Hummel was past this but I guess not. At this point, I am done with any Purolator/Mann-Hummel USA made filters going forward save a couple Purolator Boss filters out of the stash to use up as I know they are a different construction method.

Had a similar torn filter on my wife's prior vehicle, a Jeep Renegade with the factory installed Purolator made filter.

Purolator quality isn’t a concern for MANN/HUMMEL. What a joke of a filter

purolator just purolating😂. i’m not going to defend M+H hut i will say the 820/910has long been their worst filter in the MC lineup.
Disagree,

During the time of mass Purolator tears, the 820S was a prime candidate, but the 910S used to always look GREAT. 5 years ago I don't think I'd ever seen a 910 torn. Sad.

The classic wide spaced pleats tearing at the ends. Wide pleats makes the force on them from oil flow bend them over, and the brittle media can't take it at the ends of the pleats.

I used MC FL910s for many years in both My 2007 Ford Focus and 2017 Fusion and never saw a tear, but last fall when I changed oil In the 2017 I found black glue in my filter element and in the bottom of my oil change pan. That's when I changed to a NAPA filter.
The Napa Golds are very nice filters.
