I have a 2013 Ford Edge SEL 3.5 front wheel drive. I'm coming up with three different part numbers for the front brakes!!! RockAuto BRF901, Amazon BR1258C and Carid bt4z2001b they will list them as being ceramic.. I know I have, Motorcraft front brakes on there but I cannot see the number through the caliber. Any help would be appreciated. Obviously I don't know which number is correct..

Sounds right, there were four different variations of the 2wd Edge that year. Limited, SE, SEL, and Sport. There are many more variation when you factor in 4wd and awd modles. Also, being a Ford, and numbers on the original parts could be an engineering number vs a part number.

Anyways, do you have a Limited, SE, SEL, or Sport edition?

On all the sites I factored in that I have an SEL.

I have no experience with Fords since 1982, but I will take a WAG here. Motorcraft is the aftermarket division of Ford similar to ACDelco is to GM. Motorcraft may or may not be equivalent to OE. Often they are not. I am going to guess that Motorcraft has several different lines (good, better, best,) just like everyone else. The BRF901 seems to be U.S. made and is probably the "box number" that corresponds to OE BT4Z2001B (similar to their goofy spark plug numbers). The BR1258C shows up as organic pads and on some sites China/Mexico made(maybe their budget offering?).

The number 1258 shows up in the majority of aftermarket searches - Raybestos, Akebono, Wagner, ACDelco, AA, Autozone, etc.. And, there only seems to be one available design at these aftermarket sites, with two to three quality levels. I imagine all of the numbers you found will fit, there are just different numbering systems, not different basic designs. They all will fit your caliper. Just my hunch.

Edited a bit since your reply below. Maybe PM our Ford parts counter guru here for more help: bdcardinal

I also think one may be organic.. I will probably just wait and call the Ford dealership tomorrow.. cause I also can't seem to make up my mind, on which brake rotors I want and since I have to pay someone else to do it, can no longer do it myself, I may just go with Motorcraft.

BRF901 is the OE service line of brakes, what Ford would pay for if you needed brakes on warranty. BR1258C is their retail spec line of brakes, which is an aftermarket line. BT4Z-2001-B is the ford long number for the OE service pads
So which one am I supposed to order? Are they all the exact same brake pad? Is one better than the other? This is ridiculous.. LOL

BT4z-2001-A and BRF901 are the same pad, one number is the Ford number the other is the motorcraft number. Same pads, same box. The BR1258C is an aftermarket pad. I dont know about that specific number but numbers I checked on in the past in the retail spec line were made for Ford by Wagner. the BRF901/BT4Z-2001-A are what I would put on in my shop if a customer requested OE pads. IMO the retail spec pads are no better than any other premium aftermarket offering. All of them will fit your car and stop your car

What do you personally use in your shop, in the way of pads and rotors?

Honest answer at the moment is whatever premium parts we can get. Brake rotors have been especially hard to get lately with a lot of vendors and warehouses out of popular numbers. My normal first choice is Carquest platinum pads & rotors, with second being Centric posiquiet with perfect stop rotors.

Is it really Wagner who makes the Motorcraft pads? If so that’s funny to me because at one point in the dealership we were told to discontinue use of Wagner brake pads from O’Reilly due to the amount of customer noise complaints we were receiving. So we switched over to Duralast Cmax from AZ. Of course this was before OmniCraft parts became available to us.

The vendors vary by part number. Ford doesn't disclose the vendor to us, but it can change by part number and production date of that part number.

Makes sense. Seems to be that way with Spark plugs as they were made by Autolite for years. Now it looks like some still are but most of the part numbers for current models look to be NGK.

Like on Mazda brake pads they will say who the vendor is. I have seen Akebono, Galfer, Brembo, FoMoCo (which I had to laugh at)
