As has been stated and confirmed my various Honda Dealer techs here previously, dealer service departments purchase any bulk oil they can get for a decent price that meets the grade and minimum specs for the vehicles they expect to service-you’ll likely get anything from Mobil Super to Valvoline, Shell, Kendall, etc. practically none of them will buy a drum of actual Honda brand oil as even the cost by the drum broken down to 4-5 quarts for your average change kills their profits.

Honda packaged Blend 0w20 ( might no longer be available) and their previous Full Synthetic 0w20 were blended and bottled by ConocoPhillips per the MSDS. It’s rumored now that the blend is discontinued and there is a regular grade and a premium grade of Synthetic 0w20 replacing them but I’ve not seen the P/N’s with MSDS to see who is supplying it for Honda in the Us

Is this MotorCraft oil just the regular Syn/Blend 5W20 oil or is it the Full Syn?
Does your Accord's Owner's Manual call for ONLY 0W20 and 0W20 ONLY?

Best to use full synthetic in 0W20 for extended use of +5...+6K. Protection, cleanliness, heat/cold guardiance all improve. Vast majority of times anyways ....lots of camera-proof on the internet (synthetic vs blends or conventional).

Wisdom says thin applications like 0w20 really counts more in-favor of using full synthetic. I've dealt with my fair share of thin oils. I would never even purchase a synblend 0w20. I keep my vehicles from birth until old age death.

If I were leasing, selling or trading-in every 100-150K, then I would consider a synblend, provided I OCI'd regularly. That word regularly does nt align with OLMs on some of these vehicles. Some are set ridiculously high. I reset my 2004 model OLM every 6-7K oil change. Otherwise it won't flash-on until 10-11K.

No thank you GM.

Our '05 Odyssey would go 6-7k based on the oil life indicator and that's when I changed the oil too. What model/engine was going 10k+ back in '04 ?

Was your car actually losing or consuming oil or was the fill not all the way? It’s hard to believe a 2017 would be using oil.

My 2017 Toyota uses about 0.5 quarts in a 10k change interval. I use the word "uses" lightly as it's probably closer to 0.4 or 0.3. definitely not an issue. Every car loses oil over time.

Motorcraft syn blend 5W20 oil is a superior product. Use the oil life monitor and carry on.
Now if warranty calls for 0W20 only that's a different story.
