Went to AAP last night to drop off 4 gals of used oil. Took a look at motor oil prices---OMG.
M1 - 6.99
Mobil 1 Extended Performance 7.99
Just about every synthetic was at least 6.99 a quart. I believe Synpower was 7.39
Motocraft semi = 3.69, Castrol, PZL, and Valovline too.
Even AAP house brand was over 3 bucks a quart.
What is going on here?
I was in such a state of disbelief, I went over to the local China Mart-and while their prices were better, I don't believe it for long
What is next, price of oil filters going up too?

The Supertech filters which were as of 2 years ago $1.88 (and a low of $1.62 are now only $3.48!

At our local Wal-Mart, Qs which was a little less than $8 a coupel of years ago is now $12. PP was $17, now $23. Mobil 1 was $17.88 now $26.

And trust me, 2 things WILL HAPPEN.

1. Prices will continue to increase.
2. I'm sure that Wal-mart packaging we will see real soon the 5 qt jugs become 4.5qt. Still more than the normal 1 gallon jugs at other places but less than the 5qts we see now.

Oh at an increased price.

Bill

You US guys are hilarious.

Convetional is over $4/quart or liter at Walmart, etc..here. Over $5 at gas stations. Mobil 1 Extended Performance just went up to $11.50/liter at Canadian Tire, only store that sells it.

I too remeber when regular conventionals were $1.50-$2.00 liter, and 'Tech 2000' Walmart brand was $0.88/liter....

Yeah, well, we're shocked because we have to pay through the nose and other orifices for so many other things. Like health care, which Canadians don't have to worry about paying out of pocket for, am I right?

Not everybody has healthcare in Canada (ex: self employed people like I was).

Better healthcare protection is in Europe (for everyone) but them and us pay for it through taxes anyway. At the end, what is the difference?

If I had to choose between healthcare for everyone or low motor oil price, I will choose the first one for sure.

Way off topic but as someone who has a family worker in Health care (my wife) she sees a *lot* of people from Canada getting health care.. HERE..

I'll pay cheaper prices for motor oil and get good health care. (Like I do)

Back on subject. Wal Mart had the Mobil 5000 5 qt jugs still at $9.87. I picked up all the 5w30 (6 of them) and 3 of the 10w30 for family changes.

Take care, bill

I was at Walmart this afternoon. I noticed Pennzoil Platinum was 4.03 a quart, but the 5 quart jugs were 23.00 Huh? Does that make any sense? The bottles looked exactly the same.

I doubled checked to make sure the jugs were FIVE quarts. I thought maybe since it was 23.00 they had changed it to SIX quarts, but no such luck!

more often than not, the motor oil shelves at our local Walmart are just 'stocked' with oil. Rarely, does the price below the product reflect the price of the product.

For all the high level Walmart execs. that visit this board, the store is in Cedar Knolls, NJ

Availability of service is the problem, but you are right, this is not a political or medical forum.

That is what I do each time I come to visit you (about 100$ value last time as PP was on sale).
Forget tobacco and alcohol traffic, load boats and cars with oil, there is a better business here.
