Misleading AAP oil on sale rant

If the label says 4.95 it’s a fraud to not sell it to you for that price.

Some states have laws that put the onus on the retailer to be vigilant about their price tags -- the price marked must be honored, whether valid or not
Within reason and I've seen many disclaimers or fine print that they're "not responsible for obvious errors", but who decides it was obvious or not. In this case, for clearance 5-quart oil, $5/each isn't unheard of but honestly, even $14.95 is still a really good price.
only to find when you go to buy the item at the store you are told that that is the online price only.
I've encountered that before.... More than once, I pull out my phone and place an order for "in-store pick-up". One time, the store employee apologized that they can't honor the online price but told me to order it online ! He waited, his handheld dinged with a new order (mine), and we finished it that way !

Given an actual employee put the sticker on all those by hand, doesn't that by definition means it passes the reasonable person test- if an employee thought nothing of it?

But yes your technically correct, there not legally obligated to honor it. There are many legal frauds however.

An off-brand oil on clearance should be dirt cheap.
$14.95/jug is not dirt cheap.
Were I in my usual good mood, I would've said, fine you can keep it.
Were I in a bloody minded mood for whatever reason, I would have argued loudly that the clerk needed to charge the marked price and if she couldn't then I needed to see the store manager.
Anyone waiting in line could wait until the store made it right.
I don't know why we've gotten so used to and accepting of being ripped off in our fair country,

Making noise and being rude is no way to conduct oneself. It is what is wrong with the world we live in to have adults acting like children instead of being calm and deescalating.

I would never ever be so rude about a product as to draw attention to myself. If you don't like being ripped off then you do so by not opening up your wallet. Nothing more and nothing worth getting worked up over.

You might want to rethink where you are shopping. Low end markets and parts suppliers such as Stater Bro, Ralphs, Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, Walmart, Costco etc are where the dregs and low life scum hang out and I refuse to shop there unless I'm in a pinch.
Wow I shop at some of those.

You must be really special.

I rarely shop at those kind of low class retail outlets. I keep away from crime ridden areas as much as possible.

And yes I am special. Good as the best and better than most. I'm happy that you are honored to be graced with my presenting honest feedback to deplorable negative behavior traits that I do not buy into.
Totally agree. You should try it.

I'm not the one getting worked up.

And I quote you:
