Motor Guard filters

If you look at the Frantz Oil Refiner, the restrictor is machined into the inlet, not a removable orifice, Ed reccomends and sells two port Perma Cool sandwich adapters for them, I think your washer has too much surface area.
It worked good after I removed the orifice. I remember when if you ordered a Frantz with the two port sandwich or the ATF adapter the Frantz came with no orifice.

I wouldnt go larger than 2 1/2 inches. I have a very old Frantz transmission fluid filter that still has a transmission fluid soaked tp. It has no orifice. It was simpler in those days because tp fit. Looks like the Australian Jackmaster Classic will work as good as the Motor Guard with the orifice removed. I like the design of the Jackmaster Classic because its the easiest to remove the lid and check to see what it is catching.
Is that a Ralph Woods converted M30 or your own?
Thats a clean engine.

Those are MotorGuard M100's, very similar to a Frantz filter. I use one of these on my Ford 5R110 transmission.:)

More more paper to be removedThe 2 inch seals are almost Simple and effective, that flat washer works good.
Looks like for use with a sandwich adapter the Motor Guard needs no orifice. The Australian Jackmaster Classic also needs no orifice when using a sandwich adapter. For the conventional way with no sandwich adapter I prefer the orifice at the inlet. It got more complicated when they changed the toilet paper. No the washer isnt too large. I probably wouldnt go larger. The 2 inch seals are almost too small. I dont like the imprint. I like to use the Great Value 1000 from Walmart. Scott 1000 is good but it requires more rounds removed. It works fine in my flat head Ford V8 canister filter. It is 4 1/2 inch ID.

Im trying to figure out why the Australian Jackmaster Classic dont work so well with a restrictor orifice at the inlet. I think I understand why now. With the old Frantz and Motor Guards the tp fit The housings kept a downard pressure on the core seal until the oil pressure took over. Not familiar with the Frantz Refiner It might be the same. The Australian Jackmaster Classic puts no downward pressure on the tp. Its easy for the oil pressure in the out hose to come up in the housing and push the paper up away from the seal with the oil restricted at the inlet. Im talking about with a sandwich adapter with pressure in both hoses. I fixed it by removing the oriifice. You could use a Jackmaster Classic spring and washer or a spacer in the top.

Did you try the Jackmaster with the restrictor on the return port with the two port sandwich adapter?

Back when we used the Frantz 2 port sandwich adapters we drilled out the Frantz filter orifice. I think its better to use a orifice at the inlet with the sandwich adapter. My Perma Cool 189 sandwich adapter sends more oil to the filter than it can get rid of. I am putting the orifice back in today.
Disregard that. I was checking using VIVA Signature cloth paper towels in the Motor Guard. Didnt work so well. Works in the flat head Ford V8 canister filter. The seal is at the top. The Motor Guard doesnt compress the Great Value 1000 from Walmart like the old 4 1/2 inch paper but it seems to be enough. Removed the orifice for use with the sandwich adapter. Use the orifice for the conventional installation. Probably dont matter but I like the orifice at the inlet. The old Frantz SKY filters The Gulf Coast junior and the Australian Jackmaster Classic put the orifice at the outlet. The new Frantzs might be at the inlet. What ever works.

I dont think I will have any problems with the core seal with the Jackmaster Classic. If I have any problems I wont hesitate to use the Jackmaster trick of using a spring and washer to keep a downward pressure on the tp core. I will use my own spring and washer.

I think it would work fine with the orifice at the outlet. I had trouble when I first installed it. Looking back I should have installed the spring and washer. Couldnt figure out why almost all tp filters ive ever used had the orifice at the outlet. An easy fix would have been to use the Jackmaster elements. Or the Frantz elements. The Jackmaster isnt set up for the shorter paper. Looks like the spring and washer fixes that. I bet if I put the orifice at the outlet it will work fine. With the spring and washer. Might do that tomorrow. I like the Jackmaster Classic as much as the Motor Guard. My lawn mower has a Frantz 2 port sandwitch. A pipe plug in one port and a orifice in the other. A hose to the Gulf Coast junior and the return into the drain.port. I was wondering which port Frantz put the bearing in. It has a pin in it to keep the bearing out of the sandwich.

Got the orifice at the outlet. The spring and washer installed. That will do it. Wife asked what did you get done today. I said worked on the Pontiac. She knows there is nothing wrong with the Pontiac. I need a different story. Thanks for the suggestions Jimmy.

A man told me that the slower the flow the better the cleaning. :)

Thats true one of my Gulf Coast junior customers Didnt know what he meant Didnt a Dodge Cummins was proud of himself for drilling out the orifice to get more flow. I told him it wont clean oil as well. He didnt agree. The owner of Gulf Coast Filters claims 99 percent at under 1 micron for the 10 quart filter. The orifice is about the size of most 1 quart filters. The orifice is at the inlet. The oil goes down thru two elements . When I did diesels.that was 2 rolls of Bounty big roll paper towels or.22 inches of media.Dont know what they use now. They put them in a bag. One trucker said he uses Kirkland. NASA saw my post and started using them. The engineer.said toilet paper is better than paper towels. This may be true but big filters clean oil better than small filters
