Changed the tp roll today after 6 months, 1,000 Km's on this roll, did a lot of local short trips this past winter, in the past have gone 4,000 km's mostly highway, that seems to be the sweet spot, I think anyway. :)

Are you doing oil analysis as well? I installed an M100 on my V10 Excursion and changed the filter every 5,000 miles. After I bought the truck I never changed the oil, just installed the M100 and changed out the full flow.:) It's not driven much now, but has 205,000 miles on the truck and 42000 miles on the oil.:) I haven't done another oil sample since this last report.:)

I plan to change rolls out at 5,000 km (3,000 miles) or maximum of 1 year, not sure of the cost up here for a UOA, but I like the idea of a particle count. I save money on buying less oil, roll change is 600-650 mL (2/3 of a quart) Castrol Edge 5W20, If I send oil samples for testing I am sure it would put the costs well above dropping the oil once per year (5 L) , the math wouldn't be mathing, lol. :)

I would have thought that you would check for soot, after reading Blackstone's comments (below) about not being able to do a particle count on "black oil". My test on them checking for soot was confusing and not conclusive on my modifications. I have those results posted as of yesterday.

The plan changed, 5w20 Valvoline Restore and Protect became available at Walmart.ca, so only 700 km on the last roll, the sump full of Castrol Edge was drained 🙁, not sure if I will just change the tp at 4-5k km or refresh the whole sump by dropping the oil, depends on how dirty the R&P looks.
