Motor Guard Core Size

I have a bulk pack of Scotts TP in the shop but the core of the TP is too small for the tube with my MG. I bought it thinking that it would fit.

Does anyone have a current easy source for TP with the 1.625 core?
Or, what can I use to change the tube in the MG to a smaller diameter so that I can use the TP up.

I am confused. On my motorguard the TP rolls are too loose. I have to slice a cardboard center and slide it into the TP roll.
Does it look like this?

That is what it looks like.
Mine has a plastic core that is inserted into the TP core.
The cores on the scotts TP that I have are about 1.25 inches in diameter. The plastic core is about 1.625 inches in diameter, so it won't fit.

I either need to get a different plastic core, or find TP that has a bigger core. I am hoping someone can tell me what brand TP has a bigger core. My alternative is to take the plastic core to the stores and start seeing if it fits.

So your going to take a cylindrical plastic core to the store and ask if you can open the t/p so you can see if it fits the hole(not to tight, not to loose).
Would you please record that for us?

Hope you can open this if so the top two pieces are for
1 5/8 center and the five piece brass is for 1 12 center.

Just changing mine so I post pics.

Here is the top removed and shows the white plastic spacer which holds up fine.

adding more centers from used rolls. It needs at least one perhaps two for a better fit.
The white plastic spacer has an inverted lip to seal the inner sleeve and the sides taper so it will squeeze the roll tightly when assembled.

I use Angel Soft and need to unwrap about 6 to 8 feet to get it into the housing. I had read from Ralph Wood web site you had to change those because they will melt, but they have never deformed on me. I bought this housing off ebay.
A genuine brown paper filter cartridge is buyable for these and they go for $7 so TP roll works fine, IMO.

Someone on a turbodiesel website posted about using a couple of rubber o-rings with his motorguard to fit the wide-cored toilet paper rolls snugly. I haven't tried it myself but it seems like a great idea! If it worked there wouldn't be any gaps for the oil flow to bypass.
