Most Satisfying Part of an Oil Change

I like the part where when I go to recycle the used oil, the auto parts person won’t accept it.

The satisfying part is when the guy starts screaming at me, I put my iPhone in his face and say, you’re gonna be a splash screen on my YouTube channel (I don’t have one but say that anyway).

Being done with it. Then I realize that I have to go dump 6 quarts of used oil, and I'm sad again.
I get a weird satisfaction recycling cheap oil acquired from Amazon at the local chain car parts store, which no longer sells oil at competitive prices. It's not like I dont spend plenty at those stores, but they can absolutely take a flying leap with their mid-grade oil and weak filter packages for $40-50. The bogey is $22 synthetic and a spin on filter for <$6.

Just getting through the process with minimal dirty oil splash, and no mishaps, eg. drain plug dropping in oil or worse slippery filter. When finished, satisfaction knowing job done right, synthetic oil and filter of my choice used. And all the money saved with those choices and diy service.

I enjoy taking the used oil back to AAP and pouring it into the collection bin. I wait until I get about 15-20 quarts and take them in.

Funny, I just did this this morning. For me at this particular store the game is trying to leave the old jugs which they claim they can't take because "the trash service gets mad".

Every other store in town offers to throw away your old jugs, and it's all the same waste service in this small town. So now I go out of my way to leave them there or sneak them into the trash cans when employees are distracted.

And I did buy some jack oil while I was there today, so I came in the doors and made a purchase, albeit small.

I did get a chance to do this at Jiffy Lube last Christmas. They were friendly and may be my new go to. They actually backed a customer’s car up, so I could pour my oil through the grate…

At first I thought you were going to say "so I could pour my oil into their engine".

I will pray for you :D

As I was reading your post it occurred to me my lift might be my favorite "tool"
It's all good.

Just today, i put my car up on a lift(not in my home or yard but a professional lift in a shop) to inspect everything myself and because i'm about to change the PS reservoir along with one hose and about to change(partly) the transmission fluid(pan gasket, filter) once again. I'm also thinking of changing the brake pads even though they still have some life left, might as well get it done all together. It was also on the same lift last week when i changed all the fuel hoses underneath which were old, before problems occur(like a fuel leak).

My post before was on how easy-peasy and so relaxing it is to change the oil at home.
