Hold up on the flame throwing just a minute... I would like to give you a couple of situations where life styles, eating habits do not correlate with fat people. First my Mama the finest one alive is overweight she just can't help it... she eats 1/3 of what i do and can NOT keep the weight off.. she still works every day after two back surgeries etc.. she had her gall bladder removed is what the doctors think may have caused her to have an overweight problem...
Now my kids have the choice it's in the pantry, and on te table they have junk food little debbies, chips, you name it good junk food... They also have a choice of oatmeal, and I keep fruit on the table at all times, apples, grapes, bananas etc.. 9 times out of 10 they will choose fruit or oatmeal over the junk food !! I do the very same think good apples, and cinnamon oatmeal beats the [censored] out of any sugared up junk food.. and grapes are the perfect walk by snack it's easier to grab some grapes, and they taste much better than junk food as well, however my kids do have a sweet tooth and maybe once a day (prob less than that) they will grab a sweet...
My point is it's the environment that makes the difference, set the environment for the kids to have a choice and whatever you do don't forbid junk food/sweets as that will make them want it more... the kids will choose the better tasting food, and mother nature makes the best tasting food by far than any junk food...
Still we have special nights where I cook the kids brownies, cookies, or something good, and sweet... Neither of my kids are overweight, and are in very very good shape, way to much energy for me to keep up with...
Once more base to touch off on, I have been experimenting last month or so with juices, water etc trying to do the same think getting my kids to choose juice or water over cokes... I have had some success with this as my son will now choose orange juice over coke most of the time, and loves apple juice. But don't think mother nature does not load these same snacks up with sugar I know it's a different type of sugar, but still the amount of sugar in orange juice, apple/peach etc grapes is something to think about.
Before I ever linked to BITOG I had fixed me a bowl of oatmeal for a snack before bedtime.... kids also learn from their parents as well, so this is yet another string aspect of the big view on the way kids eat, what they eat, and their daily activities... I also have the two very best kids in this world, full of fire, ready to go and wide open...we have the best time I'm a single parent so I do get to pick, and choose a bit more I guess than some other parents that have different views on what snacks to lay out...
