I have 1.5 Mitsubishi lancer with manual transmission that had bearings changed recently, it has capacity of 2.1 liters i am using 80w90 gl4 mannol and was thinking of adding Mos2 for better protection as i tend to travel alot and for long distances 600km+ and its very hot in here even in winter, would it be beneficial or waste of money?

There shouldn't be much sliding going on in a gearbox, except for the differential and of course syncros. The bearings on the ends of the shafts should be sealed so no oil or mos2 is getting there. The 1.5 isn't a powerful engine that taxes the gears a lot.

get some thermal stickers if you think the oil is getting too hot on your long journeys.

Stick them on the gearbox differential away from the exhaust so you don't need to guess how hot the box gets. That middle sticker from 116 to 154 degrees is what I would put. if nothing colours, I wouldn't do anything but if it goes up a fair bit I'd switch to an xW-110 oil, GL4 rated or even xW-140 if you get to the end of the scale. Also change the oil more frequently. You could also add the moly to your current oil and see if it drops temps...

Millers Oils CRX 75w-110 NT+ Fully synthetic transmission oil is an example of such oils

We don't have such thing as thermal stickers or maybe i dont know of any, as for oils no 110 viscosity either, we have 75w90 80w90 for gl4 or 85w140 or 75w140 gl5

I dont believe that MoS2 would be benificial in a gearbox with synchros!

You need just right amount of friction there between a brass and steel....

I am no expert but would the 80w90 gl4 mannol oil be fine for that or should i use something else?

MOS2 can interfere with the friction modifier chemistry already in an MTF, so I would advise against adding a different type of friction modifier.

There is a good reason that there are specific types of calcium and magnesium and other friction modifiers as part of the formulation and not MOS2.

Thanks very much for the detailed answer mos2 wont be used, one extra tip if i may ask in summer time temp could get up to 40+ with heavy traffic is it wise to change to 85w140 but gl5 as that grade doesn't come in gl4 ? Would that cause issues?

GL5 could cause issues, and is not likely to contains friction modifiers for MTF. The millers oil I listed above does contain everything needed.

I would use a GL-4 75W90 MT specific fluid year round.

Sorry don't know what MT means
I have two gl4 options in Egypt
Wolver 75w90 semi-synthetic 145 EGP per liter
Mannol 80w90 mineral 65 EGP per liter
Which is best to use as i change my manual transmission oil at 40k or if there is any fixing done
