Exactly 5k on Kirkland 5-20 oil.

9k on Ford reman motor.

Media was extremely hard and rigid. When I was checking out that seam area with the smallest pressure the black glue pulled up. Top and bottom of filter. That’s the RED Circles.
Lots of loose and excessive glue.

These cans suck cutting open.

I put a Fram XG2 on see how that performs.

Nice photos. What oil went back in or did you not change it? Great pictures, I Thank You.

Lots of loose and excessive glue.
Whip City Wrencher on YT has pointed out the same black rubbery glue that comes loose easily. And if it's on the end cap next to the bypass valve that could be concerning.

I kicked Motorcraft to the curb, plus louvers formation is hit or miss. They use to be better before M+H took over.

What are you using?

I'm going to give the MircoGard Select (sold at O'Reilly Auto) a try. No sloppy glue, no louvers and efficiency claim is better than Motorcraft filters. The only thing I still liked on the FL500S (one for my car) is that is still had the base end bypass valve. But I maintain the car very well and not worried about excess crud in the filter maybe going through the bypass valve. And I never go nuts on the gas pedal until the oil if fully warmed up which will keep the filter out of bypass.

Not what you should get for an "OEM" sourced filter. Waviness I can live with but add in the wide spacing & it's an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully the Fram works better for you.
Sad thing is, Motorcraft IS "OEM" for Ford! Unless one considers the factory installed one OEM (which was Champ, not sure if the factory went Purolator or not).
