In regards to the late great 06VtecV6, his posts were always low on content but very high on entertainment value. I miss his posts.

I changed whatever oil the dealer had in my engine within a couple days, and switched to Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. Noticeably quieter. I really like this oil.

Then go to the PP vs. Schaeffer's thread.

Noise level based upon human ear is a subjective measurement.

Barring an OBVIOUS increase in noise (yeah, subjectively defined but hoping common sense and reasoning allows comprehension of what I mean by OBVIOUS) I, the non-erective dysfunctional Old shanty-bound Coot, hereby and forewith proclaims the dire need for all present to obtain an accurate decibelmeter to allow before/after measurements of noise levels.

Your innermost essence understands and assuredly agrees.

Let's see some Db levels to substantiate proclaimed noise levels.

Well, technically I never "proclaimed" an increased noise level. In fact, I specifically stated it might be my imagination, which is why I threw it out for discussion, to see if anyone else had subjectively observed increased noise levels with PP.

I'm sure Old Coot understands this, though.

If you can't trust your ears then what can you?

Next time you think your tv is to loud pull out a meter before you attempt to adjust the volume as you may get it wrong.

A noise level/volume perceived at a single point in time is one thing.

Referring to the memory of a past noise and comparing it a present noise level is an entirely different affair.

Not "attacking" anyone.

Just using what I believe to be logic.

obbop, no offense taken...seriously. I didn't feel you were attacking me.

I'm still not sure if I heard or am hearing correctly.
