(it was tone of voice thing) - that won't be touching her car any time soon either.

Hmmm..let's fill in some blanks here. Is she your younger or older sister? How many other siblings?

I'm trying to figure where she got the "..and the horse you rode in on!" attitude. Either she treated you that way all along ..or couldn't wait to get out of the house so she could.

My wife is kinda that way. She was a middle child with two brothers. Her father was a miserable .. ..well anyway, she'd oppose things I'd suggest just to show that she wasn't going to be male dominated. It' didn't matter if the alternative was real dumb
LOL.gif
It took a while to figure the end run around ditty ..but it worked out.

She's in the middle. I'm the youngest. We have an older brother (he's actually a Major in the OKC police force - he's over the whole south side of OKC - for you police types out there).

My sister is opinionated and to sum things up - bossy. My earliest memories are her trying to boss me around. She's very nice, humorous, bubbly, yada yada, but forceful in personality.

I tried Audi-Junkies recommendation of pushing a w40. That's when the "what's on the fill cap" statement was made. I told her "just in the interim till a mech. can look at it." But no response.

I'll wait till my August visit (it's not a normally scheduled visit - special occassion) - I'll use that opp. to tell her "if the oil light is on, it's more than one qt low - thus, use the dipstick" - and "when the oil is significantly low, you're burning on varnish and deposits that will cause problems down the road." She's very proud of herself for getting that Camry to 320k - she seems to think that this Toyota will make it there too - that's where my leverage pt comes in.

well if cam got to 320k then she will never change...proven methods in her mind

I was visiting my sister out of town years ago and I asked her if she would mind if I changed the oil and checked over her car. She said in so many words don't bother it's no bg deal. I got her to say o.k. and did it anyway. Later she had a Toyota Tercel and the engine stopped working she said because the oil change place forgot to put oil back in it. Ha! That's close. A couple of years later she proudly told me she had changed her oil herself. I almost fell over. Then during the conversation I realized that she really ment that she had checked her oil (for the first time ever) and she was 50 something. She was so proud!

Yeah I don't understand why people are afraid of checking or doing things themselves.

I learned about taking care of my car from my father, whom typically buys a used car and drives it till it can no longer be legally deamed drivable. My brother doesn't really do on time oil changes, more recently he has been since I gifted my 01 Impala to him and harp on him to get it done.

My fiance wants nothing to do with oil changes, she got her ol girl back(another Grand AM GT, this time a Ram Air edition). Bought it used wants nothing to do with taking care of it except paying for all these quick lube oil changes. So I just took her keys one day and did it myself, saved her $50 bucks and she was quite enamored. Now if I could just convince her that she should get her Transmission fluid changed, she did it on her last Grand AM and the trans died(she payed a shop to do it) so she said she'll never get it changed again.

I always wanted to check my oil after watching the guys at the full service gas stations... Oil checked, fluids topped off, windows cleaned...all in the time it took to fill up. What a concept. Why is it kids will work for minimum wage to flip burgers but not pump gas?

My advice you can't help. Been in this situation many times. I let myself get it again recently. Now I have to sell one of my vehicles because they can't afford to maintain their vehicle and will not sell it. I am in the hole $1200 on a vehicle that is not mine.

Worst part is I was told if anything ever happens to it now since I started to help I am 100% responsible!

Lose lose situation!
