Not politics at all. Just responding to your declaration that everything is above board with the way FEMA works.I have no idea what you are saying, but if it's politics please leave me out of your posts.

Where is the best place to go?My wife and I just made our second trip to Canton, N.C. to deliver more donated supplies for the Hurricane Helene affected region of Western N.C. My oldest son and his wife set up tents and cooked for the victims and volunteers. We didn’t keep up with the number of meals we served but we fed quite a few firefighters, law enforcement officers, a tree cutting crew, High School kids who were volunteering, and many residents who had lost most everything they had worked for all their lives. Sad, sobering and fulfilling at the same time. The High School is on high ground and was virtually untouched but the town below is devastated.

I think Arch Stanton may be referring to this type stuff.Ask the officials of the affected states about FEMA.
Many small towns are the ones with the most need of essentials but they’re the ones that are harder to access. Many exits on I40 were still closed yesterday. The exit for the hard hit town of Swannanoa, N.C. was still closed yesterday with Sheriff’s deputies stationed at the bottom of the exit ramps allowing only local residents in. The main exit for the Biltmore house and Biltmore Village in Asheville were open but I’m not sure it would be wise to venture there as that area seems to be the epicenter of all the destruction in Buncombe County and one might just be in the way of all the recovery and repair crews. Coming from the South on I26 is more than likely the same conditions as I40 is currently experiencing. As a side note, approaching Asheville on I40 West we passed a caravan of 6 bucket trucks pulling those huge tree grinders with N.Y. State license plates!Where is the best place to go?
My wife and I were discussing this, and comparing it to a recent documentary on Chernobyl. And while the Soviet response was highly political, it was quick and decisive.I don't know why people are surprised at how ineffective FEMA is after Helene. Just look at the work they did during Katrina. Let's assume they got reformed after 2006... Look at the work they did in Maui, or East Palestine. Heck, Flint still doesn't have clean water.
Third world countries do a better job at disaster mitigation.
A LOT of the rescue work during and after Katrina was performed by the Coast Guard, not FEMA.I don't know why people are surprised at how ineffective FEMA is after Helene. Most of the recent complaining about FEMA has to do with them diverting millions in taxpayer funds from disaster relief, to instead being redirected by them to help support illegal invaders. Mostly for political purposes.....
What do they mean by "a separate funding source"? I think the 'funding source' is the same....the American taxpayers."... Non-citizens cannot vote in the election, and no disaster funds have been diverted. Instead, (The former President) is referring to the Shelter and Services Program that saw FEMA disseminate hundreds of millions in grants from Customs and Border Protection to municipalities that saw an influx of migrants.
That program was a separate funding source with a separate purpose covering separate years – and not relevant to the current hurricane recovery efforts. ..." source: NPR Stephen Fowler 10/7/24
"
"Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Tuesday said Congress has already authorized the disaster relief funds needed for the immediate response to Helene, the storm that has ravaged multiple states from Florida up through western North Carolina and Tennessee.
Speaking at the New York Stock Exchange before delivering remarks on his economic agenda, Johnson noted a replenishment of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) disaster relief fund was included in a three-month stopgap government funding bill that Congress passed, and that President Biden signed into law, last week." source: The Hill E.B. 10/1/24
Wait til they hear what happens funds specifically marked for social security. What do they mean by "a separate funding source"? I think the 'funding source' is the same....the American taxpayers.
Here's an analogy....The wife married to a boozer and gambler confronts her husband when the rent money is gone saying "You gambled the rent money again and now we may get evicted"... He responds by saying..."That's a lie"....She says..."Then where is the money to which he replies..."I drank it at the pub"...
Yep....the people who spent the SS funds want us to trust them to fix SS....unbelievable..Wait til they hear what happens funds specifically marked for social security.
Well that is another (valid) complaint. But no excuse for fabrications just because you are angry. Doesn't appear anyone really cares about the debit. Lots of money been going right out the back door for decadesWhat do they mean by "a separate funding source"? I think the 'funding source' is the same....the American taxpayers.

PS: America is 35+TRILLION dollars in debt....in a few short years the interest on the debt will cost more than running the country....that's when things will get very interesting.
PS2: What will happen if the people of the affected areas in Florida and NC are unable to vote during the coming election?
Keep believing in rumors.I don't know why people are surprised at how ineffective FEMA is after Helene. Just look at the work they did during Katrina. Let's assume they got reformed after 2006... Look at the work they did in Maui, or East Palestine. Heck, Flint still doesn't have clean water.

Hurricane Andrew Cat 5 cost in today money $100 billion plus. Mayorkas said hurricane money isn't in the same pot as immigration and if it was it's 1% or less.People without flood insurance get whatever basic handout the government might give, $750?
Those with flood insurance (who paid through the nose for such coverage) will come out fine mostly sans construction delays and insurance adjusting hassles.
I'll leave it at this: The tax payers are supporting $2k+ monthly support payments to migrants and billions of dollars in wars with little accountability. Commander in Chief was on the news literally saying the American citizens need to fun relief efforts when FEMA spent close to a billion dollars on migrants. Priorities are borked and no one cares because this area was going to vote red anyway. Based on FEMAs response to Maui, you can also blame bureaucracy, mismanagement, incompetence, and probably some corruption as well.
p.s. I ate at a First Watch brunch restaurant the other day. One of these restaurants was destroyed in the floods and this can be seen in the post carnage videos. I spoke about this with the young lady at the counter. She had no idea there were floods and that one of her company's restaurant was leveled. People have no idea what's going on in the world.
What sources can be trusted today....it seems they all have an agenda.Keep believing in rumors.
