I'm confused, I thought the limit on zinc ppm was 800 for API SN/ILSAC GF-5 approved oils? I see lots of zinc over 800. I know the Mobil High Mileage is not required to have < 800 because it's SL, not SN.

The limit is for phosphorous (not Zinc) on ILSAC GF-5 not API. This oil is NOT ILSAC approved.
Both API and ILSAC have the same phosphorus specification - zinc is not specified. Technically, the specification is 0.08% max, so up to 849 ppm phosphorus would be a pass.

No, that require a gas chromatograph, which will distinguish PAO from ester from AN from mineral oil, but will not distinguish a Group III from a Group II. The analysis would cost about $200-300.

Surprised that the calcium level is so low for an oil billed as a "cleaning" oil. Does anyone have any ideas about what other types of detergents they may be using? Does the high magnesium make up for the low calcium number?

I see the same thing! Typically when Calcium is low(er), Magnesium is high(er).

It's up to General Motors to police dexos1 oils, not the PQIA.
I did notice that this test of the Havoline DS 5W30 is a bit heavier. It used to be on the low(er) side of the 30 wgt/close(er) to a 20 wgt. in the two previous tests.
