More M1 Muckraking

If the oil performed as well as Amsoil, I don't think Group III would be the issue. You are paying for a product that claims to meet high standards and performance claims. It won't be long if almost all oils are a Group III/IV/V blend anyway. For now though, I do agree that many other options are a much better value than M1. (PP/GC/MC/Hav.). For long drain high end synthetics I prefer Amsoil.

Buster... perhaps you forgot one that's gaining more discussions here due to popular pricing.

Quaker State synthetics family.
Time will tell as some UOAs/VOAs come in.

i repeat, show me an oil that will replace M1 0w-40, and i will strongly consider using it. note, this means,

Mercedes MB 229.5
BMW Longlife 01
Porsche Approval List 2002
VW 502.00/505.00/503.01
GM-LL-A-025 (gasoline)
GM-LL-B-025 (diesel)
ACEA A3, B3/B4
API SM/CF

any takers?

I do not know of any other oil that meets ALL of those specs. GC comes close but doesn't meet API SM. I'm using M1 0W-40 now in my VW 1.8T and used it when it met API SL.
