More garbage parts

The 1/3 hp motor that runs the evaporative cooler to cool my house locked up.

It's been growling for months so no surprise there. It's at least 20 years old.

Bought a replacement last night at home depot as there was no other option and put it all back together.

The new motor ran about 20 minutes and quit. Spins easy so it didn't lock up.

Made in Thailand.

Probably but nothing else in the victor valley at 7p on a Friday night.

Does your evaporative cooler utilize a run capacitor? that could be your culprit.

If it does its inside the motor its self.

Ya well you know how it is. Atleast it waited till payday to die.

Just got back from HD and the exchange was easy. Luckily I kept the receipt. Last night they had 9 of these motors. Now they had 3 and I took one so 2 left on the shelf.

It takes all of 5 minutes to swap out at least.

It's back together and working.......

My son is a salesman for a large HVAC company in PA. At his location, they stock all kinds of parts for air conditioners, cooling units, furnaces, etc. When I used to need parts, always bought them there. Maybe you can find a similar setup in your area.

Order one of the remaining two.
At least look at Grainger or other good source [edit: in Pennsylvania] and perhaps find a better grade.

Can you return it to HD? If not I'd pop it open to see what you might find.
My last sump pump stopped because of a loose wire on the terminal.

Already returned and the newx2 one is in. I did have to swap the power wire over from the original to the replacement so I checked that first. Was fine.
