For anyone interested, I recently replaced my engine air filter in my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2. Previous filter is a Wix 49756. For the new filter I went back to the OE Mopar 4861756AA. The Mopar filter is not only noticeably thicker, is has 7 more pleats.
Specific stats:
- Wix 49756 -
The Wix is well made and fits well in the vehicle. The Mopar is also constructed well and the greater number of deeper pleats will provide more filter surface area, as most here probably already know. The silicon numbers in my next UOA will help determine if I continue using the Mopar filter.
Specific stats:
- Wix 49756 -
- Current price: $18 USD (RockAuto)
- 74 pleats
- 35mm pleat depth
- Wire mesh backing
- Made in Mexico
- 99.9% efficiency per Wix product data
- Silicon in UOA: 12 ppm
- Current price: $30 USD (RockAuto)
- 81 pleats
- 47mm pleat depth
- Wire mesh backing
- Made in USA
- 98% efficiency printed on filter
- Silicon in UOA: TBD
