Are the New(Black ones)Mopar oil filters nothing but rebadged Purolator premium filters? Has anyone gutted one yet to see if they are the same. I was just wondering if they had the same amount of Media as a regular Prem.+ I see they dont have the silicone vavle so Iam guessing they are not a Pureone copy like Motorcraft filters? I know the old Mopar blue filters were junk. Thanks.

Well, my last trip to Walmart says "Yes". They're definitely a Purolator. The telltale 3 hole 4 hole 16 hole is there just like the MC filters. I haven't gutted one.

I looked at a MO-090 at WM. It was the only Mopar filter on shelf. It looked like a Puralator (I also saw a teardown and it had the tell-tale Puralator string).

It had a base end bypass which really surprised me !

(I thought Ford and Champ had the patent rights as the story goes. I did see this on a Mahle OC-54 also.)

I don't remember where I read it but I read an article in something several months ago that said Purolator was the maker of Mopar filters and had been for a few years.
