Howdy folks. Here is a new M0-452 oil filter that crosses to MC-400 #. Stopped at Wal mart for some Magnatec syn 5w20 and this filter was on clearance price of $3. It is a WIX made filter; same or similar to PRO TEC, Auto Extra, etc. enjoy the pics

Be careful saying it's a wix made filter...I made a similar assertion a while back based on an external only examination of the wix and Mopar filters for my neon...

Folks were quick to point out to me that in the great white north the mopars are wix, but in the US thsey are made by Purolator.

I agree with you looking at those internals BTW.

The Magnetti Marelli products are non-Chrysler applications, like GM,Ford,VW....etc.The Chrysler products parts are Mopar still and are sourced by Mopar separately.

Earlyre: yeah, I always knew since I saw these at Wal mart they are WIX. Nice construction I'd say.
Garak; yeah NHGUY is correct on the Marelli thing.

NHGUY: thank you for the info

I couldn't honestly say this. To me it bears a PRO TEC, Parts Master, Auto Extra design. I've been wrong before thou

That's a Wix all right. Does not look like the cheap Silver cellulose media though. Maybe the blended stuff like in the Gold?

Thread end bypass of course but even some Silvers have that.

KCJEEP: a Wal mart farther yonder(I.e. East of me still has this filter at $5 and change so you could try one if you like ;-). Check your Wal mart

I don't see a visual difference.

I don't see a difference in that last picture either.

The first close up picture just doesn't look like the media I am used to seeing when I cut a Silver, it looks too thick. Then again all the Silvers I have cut have been used so not a great comparison.

KCJEEP: the media I am guessing is regular paper media or so it feels. I doubt very or to be honest it's same as a SILVER

Silver media is full cellulose, feels brittle but doesn't tear under use. The only bragging rights it has is there is lots of it!

If this Mopar is no more than a glorified Silver not much of a buy even at clearance pricing.

That's cool. Have the paint jobs changed at all?

Thanks guys and to jk_636: I decided to take one for BITOG and cut the filter. I'm happy using my FRAM Tough guard like KCJEEP. That and FL-1A and MC 910S and FL-400S
