Hey, I was just wondering, I was telling mechanic that Purolator Pure One filters are the best ones, but he says that Mopar is the best.
I was looking at that mini mopar site, not too clear seeing as I glanced over it, but is Mopar, Purolator?

Thanks

Depends. Some of the smaller Mopar filters are Purolator, and some are Champion. Both should be good. The larger ones sometimes are Frams.

Pure one is a great filter. Costs a lot more so I don't use them since I am not convinced they are going to make my engine last longer. If they make you feel better, spend a few extra bucks and use them.

Well, actually, I'm using an AC Delco filter, which is blue, so I don't think it's the Wix brand. But I hear Wix is better and so I'll be going with it since it's cheaper.
But if anyone knows a little more about the mopars that'd be great.
The filter is for a 93' ZR-1, it fit's my Probe 2.5LV6 engine, so that's why I use it.

The buzz over at a Dodge Dakota forum I hang out at is that Mopars are Frams.

But even if some Mopars are Purolators (I'm not arguing one way or another, by the way

), I don't tend to use them because the cheapest I've been able to find a Mopar filter for is $5.99 at Murray's, and sometimes they'll go on sale for 10% off.

That's still over $5 a pop, and for $4.99 I can get a Pure One filter at Meijer, regular price, and this week they're on sale for 20% off; for $3.99 (or on sale for $2.99) I can head over to Farm & Fleet and get a PF-13, or for $2.59 I can go to Napa and get their Silver equivalent. Or I can head to Wal-Mart and pay $2.07 for a ST-16 filter.

That's why I don't use Mopar, at least not unless I get the oil changed at the dealership.

Well, my mech. was saying to go pick up a 6 pack of them (I guess it's cheaper), and he said they're the best.
Now I don't believe him, but wanted to check.
Either way, I've got my AC Delco (blue in colour) filter on, and I'll probably go with the Wix brand next time (since it's readily available), and it's hard to find Purolator up here.

Thanks for the info anyways!

Which Mopars? The Fram, Purolator, Champion, or off-shore Mopars?

Mopar doesn't manufacturer oil filters.

Mopar buys them from a number of sources, including
Fram, Purolator, and Champion.

So, Mopar filters are as good as whoever made them, and that changes behind the part number over time.

If you take one apart, you should be able to match with the construction on the main of part of Knize's website as to manufacturer:
